I think this new UI element would benefit from having visibility related to usage context: being drawn as current only when mousing over it or zooming in and out by other means (like mousewheel), and fading out to a high level of transparency (and low level of obtrusiveness) when that context is no longer current.



I briefly looked around and noticed the new control didn't seem to disappear even after a significant time period, and didn't see an option to change that behavior, so I thought I'd suggest it here.

I'm using 1920x1200 and find it a bit obtrusive, and think it should be de-emphasized when not relevant.
