System Anomalies

I already talked about this idea in few thread and I suppose it's better to create the own thread of this idea and focus on it to have better comments.



Now some planets have positive and negative anomalies. Personnaly, I love the psychoactive air... but it's not the point.



Why not include positive and negative anomalies for entire systems. The cause should be different but it can exist reasons a whole system gain bonus or malus.

Example :

-Negative anomaly : Black hole : A black hole is close to this system. Not close enough to attract it but the effect of the black hole can be sensed for outside people. Indeed, time goes slower... Malus with all FIDS

-Positive anomaly : Artefact of the Endless : Powered by the sun of the system, the Endless built a kind of solar space station where a machine send some kind of alpha-waves. This has the effect to calm everyone living in the system making the life cooool. Hapiness +20.

I could go for that. However, for the Blackhole anomaly, I think that it should be an standalone system that has an sphere of influence. Any systems caught within this influence is affected from the gravity it exerts. This would be more realistic, and have an greater effect on the gameplay.





Hypersolar Activity: Energy production in this sun is enormous, to the point that it is exuding an special form of hyperactive sunlight. Improves FIDS enormously. However, it reduces population capacity due to the harmful properties of this energy.



Periodic Flares: Every (#) of turns, the sun in this system generates enormous solar flares. During this time all FIDS is suspended in the system, and at least one unit of population on each planet is killed.



Black Hole: An special system containing no planets, it exerts a great deal of gravity upon surrounding systems that are within its influence. Due to this, time is slowed down among these systems, reducing FIDS.



Galactic Anomaly via random event - Expanding Quasar: Every (#) years, the quasar in the center of this galaxy expands, consuming entire worlds. It will cease expanding in (#) years, but at least (#) of your worlds are going to be consumed within that timeframe. During this period, it is recommended to colonize worlds outside of this projected radius of the quasar.

-negative anomaly : This system was an Endless system before they tried an experimental weapon. Since, strange radiations stay on all the planets, avoiding an efficient farming. Food :-50% ?

As i said in the other post:



I am against this idea, as choosing what systems to colonize is already sufficiently complex.



Adding too much realism to a game can ruin it, and i believe adding additional details to a system like this would be extremity cumbersome.
