I would like to be able to give great names to my fleet. For now, the allowed number of characters is just too low.



Imagine some:



1st Imperial Guard Fleet



or



3rd Tula's Attack Fleet



or any cool name for our fleets. (yeah, don't like greek letters name)



I think I checked every place where fleet names are displayed, and I think they are large enough.





Edit: same for the ships, as suggested by some in the thread smiley: smile

IMF -> Imperial Mining Fleet.

BBX -> BB is USA navy parlance for Battleship, and X is usually for experimental prototypes. Thus, experimental battleship.

Yes yes yes. A beautifully simple suggestion that will revolutionize the game! well.... It'd be real nice in any case smiley: smile



Also while where at it lets give the sip names a few extra characters. I couldn't even call my designs a Dreadnought. They had to be Drednoughts....

It's kinda annoying not being able to give fun names to ship because it gives some deception in Multiplayer. Having only enough characters to give it a generic name doesn't give you the time to deceive your enemies without decieving yourself or making a really simplistic easy to know system.

Speaking personally, I've given ships in other games names like 'Friendly Smiles' and 'Loving Hugs'. I feel that the shortened variant in Endless Space - "LUVHUGZ" is terrifying enough to be a name for an armored space platform of death, yes Also, craft with the name 'Festering Death' and 'Broken Eye of Chaos' are secretly colony ships. No one will know my cunning plan!

I generally come up with a naming convention for my civ. SOTS I played a human faction named the Calardian Marines. All my ships became CSV Something something.
