What needs to happen:

Create a simple graphic that highlights how many popluation you will potentially select by hovering over that planet's population.

example: hover mouse over planet I population, the population are surrounded by a nice green or blue selector graphic, to signal that you have your cursor in the correct location to select and move your planets population.

What will this do?

This will stop players from wasting time by misclicking and accidently zooming into their planets unnecessarily.

It also makes it obvious to newer players that you can actually move your population around.

Why?

Due to the solar system tilt when you are lining up your population on a heavily left or heavily right planet, it can easily result in a misclick on the planet leading people to believe you cannot shift population.

The faction silhouettes are so useless in my opinion. But there should be a drag and drop style interface when you relocate people inside of a system. It feels very unnatural to me as it is.
