I love the better trading in the new release. But trading technologies seems much harder than it should be. When Hisso proposes a trade of Xenominerology, my reaction is "what the heck is that?". Yeah, sure I researched that once upon a time, but I didn't look at the tech name too closely then, and I don't really care about it much now... since what matters are the specific improvements that it enabled. Those improvements are what I wanted, needed, and need to understand if I'm going to trade for them, or trade them away.

Luckily, all I have to do is hover the mouse over the tech name, and it gleefully tells me the names of the improvements it unlocks! But those never seem to ring any bells either. What the heck does "Borer's Guilde Bourse" do for me? I need to see the effect of what I'm trading, not yet another obscure name. So how do I find out that BGB gives one +1 Trade Route Cap? I have to open the research screen, type in the name of the tech in the search field, locate it, and then hover over that a while.

At the very least it would be nice if clicking on the blue title name (which suggests a link) would do the search and locate for me. It would further be amazingly wonderful if upon closing the research screen it took me back to the specific trade dialog proposal I got from Hisso so I could then directly Yes, No, or minimize to ponder it a bit more.

Better yet would be tool tip that provided faster, better, different, nested, or some other form of direct access to the details I want to see when I need them without having to go anywhere else to research the meaning of my previous research.

Thanks!

Agreed. It's really annoying that I can see a technology name, the names of things it gives me, but still have no idea what it does. This is also a problem (in a slightly different way) when creating a custom faction.

In Honesty i do agree but i do think it adds to the strategic value of the game. I understand not wanting to do the research for yourself but there is a reason for everything and maybe a little bit of work adds to the realism of you managing an empire

Perhaps so, and each player no-doubt has their own preferences regarding what should be remembered, researched, or spoon-fed. But Amplitude no doubt has a philosophy and set of guidelines driving the game experience they want to present. So the questions I'm really raising here is whether requiring lots of clicks (or a very good memory) is more in keeping with the philosophy of the interface they desire to convey rather than making such details easily if not instantly accessible.

As for my own opinion, the incredible degree to which Amplitude has striven to make as much useful information as readily available as possible, no matter what context you're viewing the game from, is one of the truly fine pieces of polish that makes the game so playable by helping to manage the complexity. With the exception of occasionally choosing to renaming planets, I can virtually play the entire game with mouse only, no keyboard; but this is regretfully not the case right now for trading technologies since I find a tech-search to be a requirement. Tooltips are already highly accessible throughout. I'm simply suggesting that they could benefit from a little more tip in the tool.

Moved to the right section, renamed the title.
