Retrofit ships in hangars.

Perhaps I am just dense and did not find the option. I am very new to the game, but is there a way to retrofit units inside of hangars?

I had a large fleet of 15 ships parked on a base when a new enemy came to attack me. This enemy fleet countered the fleet I had parked. I created a new design and wanted to upgrade my fleet appropriately to counter them. The only way to do this that I am aware of was to create a fleet and then choose to retrofit from the fleet menu.

The problem with this is, since this game is very sketchy about actually being "turn based", when I created the fleet before I had a chance to upgrade them the enemy hovering above attacked them on my turn. I ended upgrading a fleet parked at a nearby system instead to come over and take care of it.

And on a unimportant 'realism' note it would seem to make a whole lot more sense that retrofitting is done on the ground than in the air. :P

If I am crazy and you can upgrade in hangers ignore everything I have said!

You're not crazy. Simultaneous turns causes no end of trouble. (Wait until you start doing multiplayer.) The game would be a genuine classic in the making if it got rid, frankly.

Yeah it really is, the more I play I am feeling more disillusionment with the game and more like I was fed the "turn based" line again and bought something that was not as described. I notice we've both been lamenting it on the four page thread here.

But this seemed like one good logical step to help with some of the effects of it. Not to mention it just makes sense and doesn't seem like too big of a task to implement.
