Battle repairs are too good, or out-of-battle repairs are too bad

Ships repair very slowly, but there's a battle card that repairs your ships for 20% HP a time! This is stupid.

Either the battle card has to go, or the out-of-battle repairs need to get a lot quicker.

I support both halves of your suggestion. Recently I have been using the nanorepair card almost exclusively, except for long range phase. I have omnitank BS/DN which can take a lot of damage, and they often fight against multiple AI fleets in the same turn. I can go through an entire stack of these fleets while taking practically no unrepaired damage. While this is good for me, it does seem overpowered.

OTOH, I really think a drydock type of system improvement is a good idea. The system defense buildings (stealth, impervious) are effectively levels of system defense; something similar could be added for drydocks, maybe on the east tree which has the repair modules anyway.

I like that idea!

I agree that the repair of fleets in owned space is really bad and the repair available in combat is nothing short of silly

I feel like repair in combat should be dependent on having a repair module, and should possibly be temporary.

I will echo these. Engineering has become my go to 2nd and 3rd phase cards just to keep my ships at full health.

There was a bug corrected in the latest patch which makes it so that battle cards are not played if the battle has ended, so stacking heal cards for the second and third phase no longer have an effect if the fight is over

While true, if you can get a battle to push into the middle phase, even for just a few seconds, the card does take effect.

I agree wholehearthedly - the newest patch really put focus on how critical the nano repair card is to keeping your fleets alive compared to the passive repairs out of combat.

@igncom1: I rarely ever make it into phase 2 in combat because of my tech superiority - last two phases have always been repair cards. This is how I can outlast 30 fleets with a single one when defending.

Then i wish your empire well. I had no such advantage, rather a willingness to use more defenses then my enemy, turned into real slug fests, in the end it was down to the cards.....and my hero...against 4 of theirs. smiley: wink

wow, I don't, at least against the AI I do not unless very early on in the game. Then it becomes "I have lasers" and the AI is toast. I mean, one frigging shark with a laser on its head and the AI rolls over

The AI needs a refresher course on using defenses i think!

I can second this, definitely. I mean at a certain point I found myself mostly putting severely damaged ships into combat, so I could repair them there. I'd love it if you could slap them all into a drydock and wait X turns for a repair, maybe get a little ping when they're done.
