If You end up in a game as rank 1 you should count that towards your rating etc. I'm not sure how to have win/loss records because the game will cause you to have more loses than wins due to there usually being only 1 winner unless you alliance with him/her.

It would be nice if stats could be linked to the forum account here as well if such a feature did exist.

I am pretty sure leaderboards are a planned addition post-launch that is already confirmed. Presumably for leaderboards to work, there will be some kind of stat system, but I'm not sure of the specifics.
