Sensors detecting systems

I find it weird that in-game A ship/systems sensors cannot detect and reveal systems and i feel like this is really weird from both a game-play stand point and a logical standpoint.

So i feel like they should be able to, helping players detect systems in different sectors along with possible outposts and colony's.

And will also allow for suggestions like this to work.

Since the idea came about in our discussion, I'll add a few motivations:

If sight range relied on lightspeed transmission, you wouldn't be able to "see" anything in a given round or incoming ships at all, since they seem to move faster than light (ftl). Therefore this assumption can be summarily discarded.

If ftl spotting of orbiting fleets is done passively, they should emit some detectable ftl signals, either by using their ftl drive or by ftl communications (which have to be nondirectional in this case). If this were true, ftl communications of planets with the rest of the empire and/or ftl drive signatures of civilian trade/population transfer/supply vessels should also be detectable, making in turn the colony detectable.

If ftl spotting of orbiting fleets is done actively, this could be done by ftl sensor "pings", much like sonar with some unknown technology, or by sending ftl spy drones/vessels. If this were true, the sensors should be able to pick up orbital installations on the planets and civilian trade/population transfer/supply vessels, while the spy drones/vessels should be able to outright spot a colony, making it in turn detectable, either way.

This amounts to the logical argument: If you can see the military fleet in orbit, you should in principle be able to also see a possible colony.
