It'd be sweet if your custom factions could be made playable by the AI. Purely for role playing reasons it'd make my games sooo much more enjoyable and it would be nice for players to have more control in this way to create their own custom universe.

Yeah the other factions are cool and I've had a lot of fun playing with them and role playing the different races. But I started making custom races and after a while really wished I could add them to the universe. You can create races with some really cool flavours and it's cool playing against an enemy sometimes when you know them and there traits and whatever.

I'd support this, but I'd like them to be excluded from random. (Or, alternately, give me a "random core" option...) I have some very weird factions which are not designed for normal play that I've created, and I don't want to have to delete them, but I don't want them getting played.

I think the ai should be tailored to the affinity for each race so this should be readily feasable with the possible exception that the AI really needs to learn how to use Tolerant effectively.

Since I had the same idea, Heres my Idea.



Add additional options: 1) The Affinity of your faction (who they look like) 2) ship types (which factions ships they use) 3) Home Star name (You choose the starting stars name)



However for AI factions, its Different. A completely different screen, and button



Button: (AI Faction Setup)



It has all of the above in player creating Faction with additional options as well.



1) Good, Neutral, Evil?

2) Play style. (Aggressive, Passive, etc.)

3) Weapon focus (Lasers/Defense/Missiles/Round-Robin/Random)



This way, players factions who people dont want the AI to play as, can keep their creations seperate, and create AI Factions who they want to play against. They can also transfer their Player created factions to AI factions through a save/load feature.



Say you want to make one of your player created factions into AI controllable. You'd go into the "AI Faction Setup" screen, then click "Load", you then choose your created faction, and it puts its stats in, techs, etc. you chose. Then it goes to the 2nd screen of how the AI will act with it.

Digging up some old bones here, I know, but I wanted to throw my support (for what little it's worth) behind this. I mean, what's the point of making WH40K in Endless Space if I can only have one faction in the fray?

Nah, I just want a massive free-for-all. Give everyone Eternal War and enjoy the fireworks. It'd be interesting to see what happens. In every game I've played with the Cravers, they haven't lasted 150 turns.
