A module that costs dust per module to be equipped.

-The module it self costs dust to put on a ship. (You lose the module if the ship carrying it is destroyed).

-You have to retrofit it on a ship. [Edit]: * Manually put it on a ship.

-Only one per ship

-Limit of x modules per fleet?

-Expensive

-No tonnage [EDIT]: Raises the ship's tonnage by the same amount it puts on.

-Can't be blocked by defenses/cards

-Weapons target the strongest ship, always hits in the most effective range, but can miss/be blocked outside that range

Where to find: On the military tech tree, in one of the unused weapon research slots.

What it does: Gives a ship either a special weapon or a buff.

Examples: (Not definite parameters or suggestions, just here to demonstrate the concept).

Ion Cannon

Cost 1000 smiley: dust

Effect: Fires a single shot that makes one enemy ships unable to attack during that phase.

Projectiles per salvo 1

Shots per phase: 1

Most effective range: Medium

Self-Replicating Armor

Cost 2000 smiley: dust

Effect: +15% ship health repaired a battle phase, +10% fleet health a turn.(Stacks w/ the repair modules).

Compact Weapons

Cost: 3000 smiley: dust

Effect: All weapons on ship will fire +15% projectiles per salvo

Anti-Matter Torpedo

Cost: 4000 smiley: dust

Effect: Powerful missile that can't be stopped by flak

Projectiles per salvo 1

Shots per phase: 1

Most effective range: Long

Damage 5000

Mmh, how could it not add tonnage? A weightless ion cannon? Erm, makes no sense for me :/

You lose it if the ship is destroyed, well ofc, as all modules. But you mean that the enemy can then collect it? So when the whole ship explodes, this one module is somehow saved and can be collected by the winning side? Again, makes no sense to me :/

You have to retrofit it? Why?

And building it costs only dust? Well, I hate the only-dust-retrofit as well due to it making no sense really. It should cost some industry from the system retrofitting the ships as well. So I don't really like this only-dust-module either. How come it wont use any industry and just magically appears?

BUT

I do like the idea of personalizing your ships with some ship-specific super-modules that f.e. emit so much radiation that only a certain number of them can be used in the fleet. F.e. only some ship classes can have them and they cost a LOT. Well, all in all, I'd like a bit more tactical thinking to be involved in ship desings, a bit too simple atm :I

(1) I didn't mean it that way, I meant if the the ship is destroyed, the module is destroyed too.

(2) At the time, I couldn't think of a another way to individually modify just a single ship. Not the whole design.

(3) Think of it as: You already "made" it by researching it, but the dust cost takes place of the industry cost.

(4) Perhaps it could raise the ship's tonnage by the same amount it puts on, IE: The ion cannon weighs 30 tons, but raises the ship's tonnage by 30 tons.

I've should have been more clear about things, but I have trouble putting thoughts in to words.
