When I use an existing ship-design to upgrade it to a newer one, the old one get's removed from the list and you can upgrade all fleets containg the old version to have the new one in them.

That's obviously how it is supposed to work.

But there's something lacking:

1. Build queues are not automatically updated to the new design. Without manually removing the obsolete design from the queue, the game will continue to produce them. I think everyone would be happy for the queues to automatically update themselfes to the new design.

2. There is a lack of upgrade-possibilities. I especially refer to ships in orbit. You first have to make a fleet from them before you can upgrade. There should be an additional button to upgrade them before launching them!

+1 to being able to retrofit while in hangar. It makes no sense to me thematically or in gameplay terms to have to launch a ship out of the hangar to retrofit.

This thread is the origin of all discussions about using the system hangar for retrofit purposes.

Other threads about this have been archived:

Feel free to post here about this topic here and inform yourself about the variations the threads listed above have already discussed, but don't open new suggestion threads for anything alike. smiley: wink

There's a poll about repairing and retrofitting in hangar, here: /#/endless-space/forum/28-game-design/thread/11277-implement-docking-of-fleets-for-repair-retrofit
