I would prefer the amount of any luxury be determined by map size.

As Meedoc said, they are resources that are meant to be coveted and desired in the game. If you want those resources, your either have to trade (which is easy to do with the AI, you might need some convincing with real players) or take them for yourself.

Well, I didn't know that but I reckon it's a good design decision and agree with FinalStrigon and, apparently, Meedoc as well. Limited resources gives everyone a real reason to trade and/or expand.



Is there a similar limit with strategic resources? It must be beyond 7 because I've had 8 resources of a single strat resource at one point.
