Hi there;

I'm starting this thread to state that there really should have a Dust focused faction. I mean a faction that cares as much for Dust as the Sophons care for science, so that the economical victory could be obtained earlier in the game. I've already created custom factions that are economy focused, but it really doesn't fit any of the current affinities, because nome of those have dust focused special technologies (appart from the Amoeba, which has one in the late game).

Maybe some of you agree with me, and I bet that the introduction of a faction like that would improve the gameplay.

While it would be interesting to see a stock faction with a dust focus, I do hope you realize that you can create a custom faction right?

Just load up on traits from the economic section and you've got a dust focused race.

Amoeba pretty much are this, with their emphasis on Trade, they roll in the dust.

The only issue is creating custom Amoeba races is not fun as you have to sell back so much just to begin customization

Um, I'd say the United Empire/Sheredyn is a Dust based faction...They have some more trade/Dust generating bonuses than the Amoeba, and it takes very little custom work to turn them into a Dust generating powerhouse.

Thanks for all the tips, but this is not what I mean.

When I say dust focused faction, I imagine it by having lots of unique improvements (the United Empire improvements are focused on production and warfare, while the Amoeba improvements aim for diplomatic bonuses) that provide lots of dust, and not only with trade routes. Also, it should have a new affinity, which would provide better conditions for generating dust.

This is what I meant.

Dust is a means to an end, and it essentially wont win you the game unless you spend it to not lose.

Diplomacy and war are 2 very direct method's of not dying, leading the Amoeba and the UE to be quite polar opposites in how they act, even if the goal is the same.

Economic Victory would like a word with you.

But yes, both UE and Amoeba make tons of dust, and can make even more with some custom trait tweaking. Amoeba have several unique, dust- or at least trade-specific technologies and improvements, and UE have a built-in dust bonus in the form of their superior tax rate curve.
