Currently I haven't figured a way to do this with the current XML files. Essentially what I am looking for is the ability to set planet affinity by race. For example, a non humanoid race may favor lava -> barren -> desert -> arid or such but with the current definitions I don't know if that is possible. The truth of the matter is that area is a bit more complex that I expected. Anomalies would probably need to have their affects tempered by the race involved. This might be a bit in the coding department but we need some truly fantastic races. I keep bringing it up, but damn guys, sixteen years ago MOO2 had a better race selection and those choices meant something.

The story of the Endless is so open ended (pun alert) that about any racial idea could be integrated into the game provided the system is capable of handling it. There could be races who do not tolerate atmospheres who would see barren as idea, asteroids as fine, and even like gas giants as they would skim their outer reaches. While they would still have food resources to base population growth off of nothing states it has to be something served on a plate. Food is just a term, it does not have to mean suitable for all forms of life. A crystaline race (silicoids anyone) might find lava planets their favorite. A low moisture race (say insect like) might prefer arid/desert/tunrdra worlds over jungle/ocean/etc... but all this requires being able to tailor planet attributes by race.
