Please consider making those to go automatically at the bottom of the queue, whenever another improvement is set.

I found myself spending a lot of time mid and late game to micro manage that every time I had a new improvement to build on my systems. So I have to remove the Ind-sci or Ind-dust everytime, add the improvement and then set Ind-sci or Ind-dust again.

Agreed. I would like to see this too.

I would also like to see Drag & Drop functionality in the Queue list.

This thread is the origin of discussions about changing the Industry to anything queue-mechanics.

Other threads about this have been archived:

Feel free to post here about this topic here and inform yourself about the variations the threads listed above have already discussed, but don't open new suggestion threads for anything alike. smiley: wink

Yes, we definitely need this. Also nice would be a "queue everywhere" function when finishing researching a new tech that offers a new building. Especially later in the game I have found that lots of new buildings thet I research I want to build at every system so this function would keep you from having to queue this building in every system manually.

As an alternative to forcing indefinite items down when adding finite items to the queue (because on a long queue it can be nice to see which indefinite finisher you've selected without scrolling), the same mechanical effect could be achieved by skipping any indefinite items if a finite item is below it on the list.

For example, if I have a shipyard system that defaults to research when idle, and I were to queue up 20 destroyers, I'm fine with the ind-sci item remaining at the top as long as the game realizes there are higher priority items in the queue and completes those first. The ind-sci logo could potentially grey out. To be honest, as long as you can't set a specific number of turns or "units" of conversion to produce, those items may be better implemented as a UI toggle that takes effect whenever there is nothing else in the queue. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't want one of the conversions running at all times when idle (fake edit: see below for elaboration).

I went and read the linked thread, and the global slider idea is an excellent idea. There was some discussion that implementing it would by definition eliminate the current 1-turn production reserve, but that isn't necessarily the case. Simply take whatever code it is now that temporarily preserves unused production, and use the current garbage collection point as the point at which production is transformed into science or dust.

The priority order might now work according to demands: If you want to produce a lot of science for one turn and put all your ind-sci on top of the queues, you expect them to produce science, not anything below it.

I think that when you queue something new, it should be automatically placed above any indefinte item in the queue. Then you can reorder them afterwards. This is simple enough, but still resolves this problem.

I just have one question:

Say you're building a ship or some other construct, and then next in the queue is Ind-Dust conversion. Suppose you have produce 100 Industry a turn, and the construction will only take 50 more Industry to produce. When you end the turn, will the other 50 Industry you produce be converted into Dust (and give you an extra 25 Dust) or will that Industry be lost?

This is really necessary, when I started playing I kept finding myself surrounded of planets that were doing absolutely jacks***t nothing because I forgot to tell them to stop converting industry.
