Suggestion for making Combat more interesting (especially late game)

I love most everything about the game, my only real complaint is that the combat gets very stale having 3 weapons to chose from.



In late tech it would be great to see some more SciFi elements rather than just who has upgraded their missiles and lasers more.



Examples:



Black Hole Generators: More effective against larger sizes of ships



Plasma Webs: Smaller the ship the longer it is stuck, effectively taking it out of combat for 1-2-3 rounds of the fight.



0 Point Energy Generators: Effective for stopping ballistic weapons in their track and in some cases reversing their kinetic energy to send them back towards the originating target.



ECM/ECCM: Self Explanatory



Sub Space Submersion: Lets a ship drop out of "reality" to save it in critical conditions



I am sure many people can think of many more.



This would give the game more of a strategic feel in combat instead of "My guns bigger than yours GG"



These can have costs attached to them, specialty resources attached to them etc etc.



I am not sure if there are plans or what the plans are for Spying but that is another aspect that this game could benefit hugely late game, even if it were just to see what tech your enemy has. Perhaps sending your hero's to do the spying with the cost of not having that hero for the turns he is gone as well as the chance of the enemy finding him, you losing him, and them knowing your up to something.
