I so nearly shelve this game many times because of this one stupid oversight. I am tired of reloading a game every turn or so just so I can do the combats I need to play

If I could get one single things it would be this.

Missing to click manual is so frustrating and is bound to happen from time to time when a lot of things are going on.

Me too. I guess a tutorial with things going on in the background isn't a very good idea.

Had another multiplayer game with my brother yesterday. Again, I noticed the missing timer is a problem as well as the fact that this screen shows up in background. For instance, I had two battles following each other, after the first one was over, I saw that the second one was already done automatically. Also, I had the issue that I didn't even noticed the battle as I was watching the research screen.

Please don't tell me again 'It's because multiplayer, but maybe an option for singleplayer.' Just don't force it, give a setting for that when launching a new game, even in multiplayer. I know Endless Space' support for LAN is weak currently (hope that will change), yet the timer makes no sense for LAN or private games either, if only a few human players take part. In this case, the players know each others personally and can wait a few minutes on each other. Even more, my brother used to watch important battles with me. All in all, the timer is the wrong place to save time - rather improve on the lengthy approaching and final phases by introducing a button or something (no, don't reduce time to select tactics cards either, please).

There is a pause before battle, it's the arriving phase. There is totally enough time to select all 3 cards before that ends. Then, if you don't want to sit through the fight, you could use that time to go off and get a drink or something. Which I personally do not do enough while playing this game. Not enough load screens. Grrrrrr.

You can look at your enemies before you engage in combat : just let your mouse over the enemy fleet.

I can't seem to see them before the battle.

I get to a planet and their there and the battle starts or they get to my planet and just show up & the battle starts.

Are there senors that I need to be researching & building ??

Pausing (baby crying) or speeding up combat (I picked my cards and now I am bored) would be awesome features

I agree the Battle system needs a skip button, or at least a triple speed boost when you hold Shift or something. I don't trust auto; I lose almost every time, and I do much better with Manual. But sometimes I'm tempted to try auto because I'm so sick of the 3 minute battles, especially when there can be several per turn.

When you have the choice between auto and manual, you can hover above the enemy fleet and see their composition (what weapons are used, and their defences)

I am afraid you are right. I cannot believe that the card system is so complex, the auto-resolve AI cannot pick cards almost as well as a human. But I have not been able to get much measurement of this. Would you be interested to save a game just before combat, and try the same combat a few times with auto-resolve and manual? It would help understand if this is really a problem.

I missed my first battle when the tutorial came up and by the time I got if closed, all I saw was the Battle Report telling me that I lost.

I would like an always-manual button with the option of pressing auto.

Personnally, I thought recently about the possibility to click to Auto when chose Manual or Manual when chose Auto, when the game is loading the battle in the two cases. Sometimes I just push the wrong button and I would like to fast corrst by re-click the option I really wanted.

About the cards chosen in Auto, in some rare cases I saw the AI have the same results like I could have in Manual. But only few times and never never better.

When you click Auto battle there should the usual cards you can choose from. Set your cards and you're good to go. Hell, you can probably even set up a few templates.

Signed. I too would like to see some form of pause before battle. The timer is not necessary in single player games, and after all, it is a TURN BASED game.

You should be able to choose your cards and then select auto or a speed x option.

Although on an important battle watching the fight can be exciting, when you have a lot to do it can be a pain.

The only thing I like with chess is that I decide the speed of my moves. smiley: wink

And in this game I can mention several reasons on why a pause is needed.

1. Battle start and u need answer telephon/visit the facilities/ answer wife/girlfriends question.

2. When implemented, hover mouse over enemy fleet to determend load and with that information decide what cards to use.

Hopefully following will be included in the battle phase:

1.Tactics like flank, long range fire support(keep longranged designated ships in the rear), go for transports/colony ships directly(very costly if escorted)
