Im doing a redux version of my suggestions summary to refine it and avoid redundancies, but, i wish to view what are the dev team are planning actually, there some post to see it?

Ok Madrox to simplify the process what you need to do is as follows:-



1. For each suggestion of yours you need to check the summary list to ensure your proposed suggestion has not been made previously by comparing both the Summary suggestion list linked here and Dev Team following list here

Madrox I notice you have made a long list of suggestions. Which I appreciate.



However a alot of similar suggestion have been made in past. I see you are now been informed on submission rules.

This one is actually already in the game. The techs are in the left tree. Theres at least 2 that drop it by 10 turns each.

Well, im am a wannabe game designer, so after some playthroughs of Endless Space i will try to give my opinions and review based on my vast experience with games of same kind, my limited experience with GD and my even more limited skills on the english language. soo be patient if i say some shit (and of course correct me as needed).



Part 1 (due to character limitations in the forums, 10000, and i did a thread with 15552 characters long) D:





Well, when i enter the game, the first thing i see is a beautiful image with ES logo on it. hen i have another image (i ussualy got the UE loading image, i suppose its the only one.





Suggestion: More images showing some more of the universe of ES.





Suggestion ²:Please, for Giant Spaghetti Monster sake, we need a loading meter, to know if the game has crashed and to give me some feedback on loading (this usually gives me more patience to wait. xD





Question: Why there is seemingly 2 loading images?





The main menu is nice looking and functional, loved it but...

Suggestion: Before even starting the game, there should be a way to configure graphic quality, controls, audio and stuff on a separate launcher, when i first launched the game, i suffered to configure the graphic correctly to give me lags. my computer isn´t good enough to run the game in "good" quality usually i use the "Fast".

Suggestion 2: Although this is more of a "Graphic" issue, i think i should speak it now. It would be good to have an 800x600 (or ever 640x480 :P) option to resolution, i would love to play the game with more graphics to see how it is. but mainly to give mroe acessibility to players like me who run their games on old rigs like mine. xD

Suggestion 3:A theme change on menus and UI would be a nice feature, i would love to see a Sophon specialized theme to the menu. but its not too important tough...

Suggestion 4: A techroom like Freespace 2 (or its counterpart in civilization series, the magnific Civilopedia) would be awesome, which explanations on each tech, species, cultures, traits, ships and credits to the dev team! \o/





On New Game menu we see a nice and very complete UI with many options to customize your experience.





Suggestion 1:Have a quick menu toi choose the race i want to play and a separate button just for customize the factions and affinity.

example:

I choose the Sophons ( usually choose them) and i want to play as a Sophon affinity custom race with some different traits, so i choose in the quick menu and push the Custom button and voilá, there is our custom race editor.





Suggestions 2: Following on the Custom Race issue, it would be nice if the played would not be handicapped by 68 points limited, while all other factions have 72 points, this kind of unbalance the game. ( i usually fix this by editing the race files, but this can be considered a kind of cheat. so it would be nice if that was fixed within game.





Suggestions 3: More variance of photos on each race, im kinda tired to play with the old man on UE and the exactly same image for Sheredyn.





Suggestion 4: It really lacks a another Good terran race without being these religious-minded Pilgrims, i really don´t like to play with them, and a neutral faction of Terrans would be nice too.





Suggestion 5: What´s all this manichaeism of "Good", "Neutral" and "Evil". i found this disturbingly useless, not everyone on UE have to be Evil and not everyone at the Sophons must be "Good". Everyone has his idiosyncrasies, just like the Humanity has nice people who can be really cruel sometime (Psychopaths, sociopaths, narcissistic are exemptions of the rule).





Suggestion 6: What about governments? apart of the UE, i can see the Pilgrims as being very well a Anarchic society. I will do some analysis in depth when i walk about the main gameplay.





Suggestions 7: A comprehensive way to see what each of the victory conditions actually are, what they ask you to do? maybe on the Techroom (or EndlessPedia xD)...





Suggestion 8: A custom-hero option, this would b included ion the main menu to create your own hero, much alike the custom race creator. This would be a vast improvement on immersion.





Suggestion 9: A online mod database to me to download and automatically install any mod released. With the option to upload my own mods by choosing the folder it is in.





Suggestion 10:A custom heroes builder within game to help the game immersion of the player. much alike the custom (affinity-based) race builder which some few diffs.





Suggestion 11: Scenarios to play in and a tools in game to create them.





Suggestion 12: A campaign feature, to give some mroe depth into the game story and universe. one for each important race.

obs: if you want some writer to help you guys with this, search no more for i am here! \o/ (just kidding, but who knows? i man can dream...)





Suggestion 13: A custom campaign tool in and out game would be nice.

Do do you sugggest, i search for each one of my proposals, then make a thread for each one of the proposals that have been not already proposed yet?

The intention of this thread was to give my feedback on the game, it would simply took too much time to search. after all this work i had.

D:



And, as i stated before, i know some of these suggestions already been made. thats why i asked if anyone knew of some redundancy, say to me so i could make the right corrections... D:



But...maybe you´re right...and i should do all this research. bu i have simply to little time right now to do this. maybe this evening or tomorrow even. D:

Part 3 - The conclusion! \o/



Well, i think thats it!

We finally in the end of our long journey and now, some final notes:





First: Like a said before and you didn´t read (if you did, good for you, but im quite happy you did) English isn´pt my native language, it is portuguese, i am Brazillian (like you can see at my Profile),so my english skillz aren´t that much polished, so be patient with my and my lack of vocabulary and help me with them, grammar nazis, you´re welcome! let destroy these damn je...i mean... let destroy these damn habits of mine (word repeating, lack of vocabulary, concordance errors...) and create a pure perfect rac...a perfect grammar! xD





Seccond: I know that many of these suggestions i made, was already maid my others people, if thats the case, please refeers me tot he link and say to me the status of the suggestion (if they are declined, impossible to be made, accepted, already existed, already in the dev plans...).





Third: If my suggestions has not been already made by others or they are in the cases i said, but isn´t possible,or would be against the Game Design philosophies you guys are trying to follow, please give me a detailed explanations on why they are not possible. please. maybe it is simply unreasonable, please say so....





Fourth: If you want a more "in-depth" explanation on any of these suggestions, please, say so, i will be more than happy to clarify all doubts...=)





Fifth: if i´ve been redundant and repeated any suggestions, please say so to correct me, i did this in more than 3 hours of work and research, i can very well have forgotten i already made this suggestions on another place. sorry if that's the case. D:

Gameplay.





Suggestion: The first thing i see everytime i begin game its the lack of tech reminder on first turn, the first time i played i didn´t see this and a potential 1 turn of tech development. There should be a pop-up to show you options of possible techs to you choose.





Suggestion 2:The tech times to complete its too large, maybe it is because im too accustomed to play with Sophons that i find any other speed too slow but i think 6 turns to completing n-way fusion plants a little too much (i played with Horatio at this time).





Suggestion 3:Give some utility to the lasts techs of Tech victory, it would be nice if they actually gives me something instead on simple victory conditions.





Suggestion 4:Now back to the main game, the first thing i found hard to adapt was the camera controls, they are laggy and non-intuitive, i forced me through 15 minuts of painful management of the camera until i discovered the zoom option, which facilitated much to me and that was my fault for not playing the tutorials (i don´t usually play them, im a experienced space strategy gamer so i learned by trial and error), but the camera lag issues are still there, there should have a more intuitive way to move the camera and zooming in and out with hotkeys (usuallly they are Page Up and Page Down or - + buttons.





Suggestion 5: This is kinda part of the last suggestion, i find the entrance of each system very difficult, but i will explain the reason with the next suggestion.





Suggestion 6: When i try to select a ship, sometimes i move the camera instead of selecting the ship, this also occurs with the system selections too, i really suggest that this mouse moving camera would be taken out of the game (or at least there should be an option for this on Gameplay menu)





Suggestion 7: On the very beggining of the game, on of the first thing you have to to its exploring, that should be no problem yes? no, it is, for several reasons, like the cited above. BUT, there is more reasons which the exploration is so painfully difficult. first, there is no "auto-explore" feature on exploring ships, that is a sacrilege to EACH strategy game ever made, a strategy game isn´t complete with some auto-explore feature (added on later patch i didn´t downloaded on that time) another thing, there should be a way to see a list of inactive ships (that is, not in guard or exploring or attacking, just there...), on Age of Empires 2, the most basic error of a newbie is the "Idle Villager", so, its a MUST to have this kind of thing.





Suggestion 8:The initial fleet is a explorer and a colonizer (on most of cases i played), but they are on the same fleet, this sholdn´t be like this, there should be 2 separate fleet to each ship in this because i dont want to go exploring the unknown mysteries of the universe with a colonizer ship full of people and unprotected.´this isn´t a big issue, but for a first-timer it is, because he will lost one of the most important ships of his if he´s unlucky enough to encounter a enemy at an early game stage.





Suggestion 9: Revolutions! what people on known history have not them? they can be events like an Ai Inssurgency or an entire system-wide government changing revolution of unsatisfied people.





Suggestion 10: Race-especific events, like the unexpected discovery of a tech (currently the Creative trait) for Sophons or some intern politics change on UE because of the little things on the court that spread enough to make the main government change its policies.





Suggestion 11: Civil Rights, Religions, Military Laws...all that hould be included in the game and some "default" for some races, but that could change by events in-game.





Suggestion 12: Dillemas to the player resolve as pop-ups, for example: The Sophons discovered and entire new branch of research, but following this branch would sacrifice many Sophon lives, but the rewards would be great enough to compensate. like a 15% of tech research speed or industrial output...





Suggestions 13:A In-Game EndlessPedia acessable my Esc (Menu) and pressing the EndlessPedia button to see all info and statistics.





Suggestion 14: More consistency on the heroes abilities, why a experienced Hissho commander would be great at spying and corporate?





Suggestion 15:More tax control, that flat-tax model you guys are using just are not the best approach for fine tuning strategies...





Suggestion 16: A comprehensive, modular ship builder in (and out) game to help the player. It was one of the most awesome features of Gallatic Civs 2.





Suggestion 17: A in-game EndlessPedia to quick access of content.





Suggestion 18: A nice, simple and complete galaxy-range map (or tactical map) to help the player to the progress of your and of the other civs which little simple icons for each important feature of the gameplay, i know the zoom give a galaxy-wide vision fo everything, but its not the same thing. ( ill maybe do some images to show what im walking about)





Suggestion 19: Diplomacy, the Ai, even at its most easy levels, is verycruel at diplomacy. they refuse techs frequently and demands unreasonable prices for everything. and Planet trading option is pretty much useless, since they do not sell them for ANY price. more more nice-and-easy Ai should do it.





Suggestion 20: More tech branches, like non-technical techs, confused? what about an example? A social branch, to develop techs that deals with the people, civil rights...everything with an impact on the output and happiness of the people.





Suggestions 21: Governments, i want to make my own revolution and change the United Empires to United Anarchy now! /o/ (ok, im exaggerating, but you got the idea xD)





Suggestion 22: techs to improve Heroes Academy efficiency, waiting 50 turns is a little too much on the later stages of game.





Suggestion 23: This can be kind fo impossible, but i will ask anyway: A simple planetary invasion system. like the one on Gal Civs 2 alongisde with invasion-specific ships to do the thing.





Suggestion 24: PLanetary air forces, pretty much self-explanatory, how will iconquer an entire planet without air superiority to defend form invasion and do the supporting if im invading...image...large super carriers flying out in the sky dominating aall the scape with its several number of fighter and bomber wings ready to provide air superiority at large scale.





Suggestion 25: In-planet rebellions, if the people isn´t happy, they naturally rebel, you can negotiate with them spying them, crush them...each with its own repercussions galaxy-wide.





Suggestion 26: A even more specific tax for each of your population tax, for example, the poor workforce should not pay as much taxes than the rich and powerful...or if im a evil dictator mothe♥♥♥♥er, i tax the poor to the max and crush them when necessary. \../





Suggestion 27: Government ministers and parliament, pretty much self explanatory, but any good bureaucratic government have its layers of command to manage the civilization. they would act as power-limiters and advisers in critical times.





Suggestion 28: Impeachment, if the unhappiness is generalized, you will be retired of your government by a vote process that will take 4 weeks t be done, if you not fix what are leaving them unhappy, game over for you.





Soundtrack, beaultiful, calm and immersive.





Suggestion: a custom-made playlist that i can import into the game, i really want to play battles with Duel of Fate from SW ep1 OST (john Williams, i love you.) \o/





Suggestion 2: More variance at soundtrack, every track is beaultiful, but a little more variety of them would not hurt. =D





Suggestion 3: Sound quality control, pretty self explanatory. but its because some guys have not this good of a rig to run ES and may want to take out from sound quality to gian some little more fps on game.





Modding:





Suggestion: A easier way to put mods into the game, its really not-intuitive they way it is now.





Suggestion 2:Give the player, more in and out game modding tools, like the ones i just said and out game versions of the in game tools already existent, like the Custom Affinity-Based Race Builder. examples would be a: - Easy tool to XML editing. (with a interface to edit each aspect of each xml available for mod), a out game modular ship builder for total conversion mods... stuff like that.





Suggestion 3:A online based ingame Mod Manager, that would allow us to download mods directly from a modbase and a option to add my own mods to it. would be A plus!





Misc:





Sugestion 1 and only: More cutscenes! \ooo/
