I really like the heroes in the game but would like a mechanic to have a better chance of recruiting the specific heroes I want. My idea is that for increased initial hero cost you could increase the chance to get a hero with particular specialties (eg. Advertise for Admin/Corporate heroes or pilot/commander heroes) or skills (Melee bigger than 4) and decrease the time to get new heroes at the academy. I think upkeep should stay the same.
I’d say that the percent chance should be in the range 10%-80%, depending on how much dust you put up as a signup bonus. It should probably grow logistically with dust cost so there are diminishing returns as the signing bonus goes up. Also, the decreased time for new heroes probably should be no more than 50%, again growing logistically.
Some way to influence arriving Heroes would be great. I also like the idea to limiting the portraits and stories to those races/factions that have been encountered already.
