Introducing fighters and or bombers into the game would be quite badass. While not only being able to see capital ships slugging it out in space, but also fighters flying through massive amounts of fire to engage the enemy ships, only the be stopped short of an emergency scramble from the enemy ship would be awesome. Carrier based ships could be implemented as they would easily blockade planets with its fighters and would destroy trade ships with its bombers while destroying planet infrastructure at the same time. You always need fighters and bombers, sneaky little devils.
