I think you can avoid this if you are quick. If I see a fleet heading towards one of my systems and I think they are going to pass I select that fleet, click End Turn and then hover my mouse over the attack button. Because of the time it takes the enemy fleet to turn before leaving your system you will have a second or 2 where you can hit the attack button while they're still in system.

This is only really advisable if you're desperate to get the enemies or if you're only focusing on a specific system. It's not something that could be done on a large scale.

Sorry, you are correct. You can't use a transport to increase the population of a colony.

That is micromanagement to its best. smiley: smile

But I just hate when a game let you do such things.

Not really, because when i send a second transport to colonize, I can only add to a non-colonized planet. So new planet yes, but "It could be an existing planet (increasing its pop at the cost of the gears you spent)" does not work =S

All transports work the same way. Sorry if my post was confusing. When you start the game, you get a transport. When you colonize with that transport, it adds one population to whatever planet you choose. You can build more transports, which costs gears but does not decrease your pop. When you colonize with the second transport, it adds one population to whatever planet you chose. It could be an existing planet (increasing its pop at the cost of the gears you spent) or a new planet. Does that help?

How does that work? did you mean use another colonization ship?

I have sent one to a new system and i can only colonize a new planet... Does it have to be a transport without a "Seed Mod"?

Could you explain in a bit more detail please? =)

There are techs in the left tree to increase your hero count. But manage them carefully!

Yes, you have to research the techs in order to initiate diplomacy. You can always initiate war. If the other AI researches the tech, they can initiate diplomacy, but your options will be limited without the techs.

You can build a transport to add a population point in another system, but you cannot strictly speaking "relocate" pop to another system. The game will automatically move population between planets in the same system. Once a system reaches its pop cap, overbuild any food exploitations with industry or science.

Happiness and food have a huge effect on pop growth rate. In the system management screen, for each system, you can see the number of turns it will take the system to add one pop. Try changing the tax slider, see the effect on happiness, and watch the change in this number of turns. It is worthwhile to keep a low tax rate for high happiness in the early game, to get max population growth.

Thanks a lot, That is NOT explained in the tutorial >.<

Also, i'm going to have more questions on here:

Can you have more than 3 genreals?

Do you HAVE to research "Diplomacy and Trading" to ally AI? You can't start trading or being friends without research?

Can you transfer population between systems (with ships?)?

If not, how do you increase pop? Just by low taxes and high food production?

This should be added to Raptor's Endless Space FAQ.

Q. What are the thick strings separating constellations, and how do I use them?

A. These are wormholes. Research Applied Casimir Effect (bottom tech tree, tier 2) and you can use them.

Q. How do I travel outside the strings and wormholes?

A. Use the Warp Drive tech. This will let you travel anywhere, although pathfinding may take you along strings anyway if it is faster.

Hey, very noob question too: What do you need to travel warp channels? (assuming they are the smoke-looking line between system)

Quite useful, thanks for this info.

Hey!

I am quite new to Endless Space, well, we all are, are we?

I've encountered a few questions several times now while playing. It might be due to me not reading the tutorial good enough. I can't find a way to reset it though.

My two main questions are:

1) Is there a possibility to select multiple fleets? Shift? Strg? Alt? I tried them all. Nothing did work. (Ofc. I'm not talking about the "select all" button)

2) What is that bar right under a system's name? It's colored in my empire's color. For some of my older systems it disappeared.

Thanks for that one again.

Here comes the next. I've read about it in the steam forums too.

Why can enemies bypass my "patrolling" fleets in my outer rims?

By that I mean:

I have stationed a fleet in each starsystem which shares a warp channel to a next empire. It seems like the AI is able to just bypass and fly to the next system.

Any suggestions on that? Or is that being fixed? ^^ Regards,

As far as i know you only have to sign a peace treaty. You don't even need open boarders. (at least i never have)

Not yet. You have to check each system individually (inside the system screen at the top right).

Right. Thanks.

Is there any overview to see the income generated by traderoutes? I haven't been figuring that out yet.

Thanks in advance,

I believe the techs you're referring to are on the left hand tech tree, on the upper portion, where the majority of the diplomatic techs are. They are often in the form of a structure that needs to be built to give you more routes though, rather than an entire empire upgrade from a single tech research.

I've come up with another!

Do I need some kind of agreement for traderoutes to become available?

trade routes are automatically created between you and another empire when you are at peace. You can get research to unlock improvements to increase the number of trade routes on a system (i forget off the top of my head where this is on the tech tree)

The bar under your system's name is the invasion bar. When you first colonize a system it takes time to fill up. Later in the game when an enemy fleet invades your planets it will take them several turns to do so and this will be represented by the bar changing from your colour to theirs.
