Just wondering if it wouldnt be possible to mod this in>? I understand this game is modable, anybody have any idea in how far we could just edit the ai to always form a aliance and just remove the ability to break the aliance. That might work ?

For the rest, i would love to see a predetermined team - if only to make the ai coop better with eachother.

This is certainly possible, not sure if a modder has taken up the task yet though. But if the devs add it, and it becomes official, that would be even better.

Has there been any work on this by now?

So unless a dev comes by and tells you all: "No, we are not going to add this...", there is a chance to see it implemented, it's just that they have priorities as can be seen in the tracked suggestions list so don't expect everything the community wants to be added right with the next game update.

This thread is from 1012... I'll just assume this has been completely abandoned. Very disappointing.

Such a shame, the AI wiped the floor with me the first time I played, and a day later endless mode hardly provides a challenge, and at some point you just quit, because there is no way you can win.

Allowing us to lock the AI into teams at the start would give fighting vs AI some actual replayability.

Allthough, what I can recommend is to craft AI-Factions, you can go over max points for them (and yourself if you thought that necessary) by editing the FactionTrait.xml file, search for AFFINITIES, and there you'll see lines, you're interested in the ones with Cost="65" (or thereabouts), replace that with 1000 and voilà. You'll have to edit each affinity seperately.

I should look like this:

If you don't want allies at the beginning of the game since we can't talk the same language, thats fine. (Though what if we play the same race?)

But is there are way we can ally and go for the victory conditions together when we can talk?

Well, just work together. You don't need a formal alliance to aid each other right away. A friend of mine and I were playing last night (he as the Amoeba, me as the United Empire), and we just started feeding each other tech. From there we more or less split the galaxy into two, though I handled more of the military needs than he did, until we were the only two left.

Then on won on an economic victory :P

Just use Steam voice chat or Skype to work together.

If one of you are Amoeba, and either the Amoeba or another can research upto alliances quickly, then create aliance.

Vision=shared.

It would be nice to have preformed alliances and allied victory, or just allied victory.

Overall, if the stats aren't persistent then I don't see the point of allied victory nor preformed alliances.

Are or will the stats be persistent?

Preformed alliances are necessary if you want the computers to cooperate against you. Otherwise I see the game being very easy.

Can any dev comment on this possibility? I love playing ES cooperatively with a friend, and it would be great if we could have an "allied victory" option as well. Also, seeing the AI gang up in cartels in response to player alliances would be helpful in promoting team play.

Having a team victory would be nice, but I think it should be done tactfully. "Setting up" teams before a game seems a bit lame in the sense that it forces two people to play on the same side, making diplomacy between the two worthless. I would like to see a way to have an allied victory, but not a predefine team creation.

I've had a lot of fun playing Civ 4 w/ predefined teams. Me and a couple friends took on a similarly sized computer team of three. It was entertaining. There was still diplomacy between the two teams as well. 2v2v2v2 is also generally an entertaining time.

Predefined teams really are a required option for a good mp experience. Friends just tend to want to work co-operatively against ais, and I do mean fully co-operatively. If you start passing techs back and forth willy nilly without a proper team system it just leads to a bad experience.

Agreed - my friends and I would all love to play using teams as a default option during game creation.

Well, when you start a game, just like we assume same factions don't speak the same language, we assume they're not allies either.

The way my friend and I like to play 4x games (like Civ) is to be on the same team against the AI.

Is it planned to allow the ability to set teams in multiplayer or permanent alliances?

Hi,

this is the last key feature witch is needed to be confirmend.

3 of my friends and me are wainting for days, of a reply on this topic.

"don't speak the same language" as reason, is not a counting argument for us.

We all want to buy the game, but for "endless replayability"

(with these words describe Steam the Endless Space), we need the possibility to choose teams at the game creation.

Only the feature: "Me with a friend in a team vs. AI" assures us *endless replayability*"

In hope of good news, we will wait.

greetings Gerrit

PS: Excuse my insufficient english skills smiley: smile

PPS: Me and my friends speak the same languages smiley: wink

Well, as already mentioned, that feature isn't planned for the game (starting as a team).

Technical director: it's not planned, but why not.

Game designer: this is not planned. That's part of the game: trying to arrange things with friends, working together, but eventually, there is only one winner. smiley: biggrin

Don't aim for a supremacy victory, then. Feel free to eliminate everyone except your allies, and then try to win via economic/scientific/wonder victories. You don't turn on your allies, but you still can win. That's why, I imagine, there are more than one kind of victory in the game.
