Hello! I just bought the game and first thing I noticed is that you can have empty system queues, which I find odd!

Is there any benefit to having an empty system queue?

None that I can think of. Even if there is nothing you want to build, you still would prefer "ind to dust" or "ind to science" over doing nothing.

recently I found out that when I'm in peace with someone I can't block (ie. intercept stance) their vessels from passing into my 'region' of space

somehow I always thought that what made intercept not taking effect was the open-borders treaty only

can anyone explain what's the difference of peace and open-borders treaties when it comes to preventing opposing vessels from passing through our systems?

thanks

If you're playing as the automatons, the production can stack over several turns ( 5 turns max I think) if nothing is in the queue. You earn interest each turn on the stacked production, so it's like a little bit of production for free. Takes a bit of micro management to take advantage of though. This also allows you to save choosing what you want to build until the last minute. For example, after 5 turns you might find you need a battleship to fend off pirates that just popped up. Usually you might have already spent 5 turns building some system improvement. Using the stacking, you can have 5 turns of production ready, so if you need a battleship, you can build it immediately, or still select the system improvement if no other emergency build arises.

Do the "hover thingies" orbiting planets have ANY effect or are they just for looks? And what determins their appearance*? I've seen them pop up on heavily populated planets from time to time, but in my recent Automaton game I looked for them in vein.

*as in them showing up not what they look like

Do you mean like: "Solar Farm"

Because sometimes planets have relics from the Endless orbiting them...

Artistry. If you notice, these floating cities increase with the population of the planet. Sometimes the cities/mining sites are on the ground, making the planet look a little like Couriscant. (This particular planet is a mix of the two.)

It is a really big addition of life to the game, if you ask me.

Ah good that was my initial hunch aswell, their behavior seemed a bit sluggish(as in not poping up as soon as some pop was hit) but I guess that was due to them floating behind the planet.

Yeah one of those little things that make me love this game smiley: smile

Foreign Language Endless Space looks awesome, guessing German? Oh yeah... so does the Space stations and city lights of course.

Serious how is stuff like this hard to miss sometimes, the game lets you know you've found them, the planet is highlighted, the system screen has the wonder replacing the anomaly. It practically keeps letting you know that they are special and wondrous.

EDIT: Looked at the post following it... pancakes it all, they are Space Station effects.

Richtig, das ist die deutsche Version!*

Yeah wonders are sufficiently pointed out. Especially the Endless wonders which "spring into motion" once they are restored.

*(translated: )Correct, that is the german version!

Hey guys, I may have stumbled upon something a bit weird but I was wondering if this was expected behaviour or not. Basically I was playing with some friends and we each had x amount of systems. we were all expanding pretty normally, until I noticed one of my planets was losing a lot of dust per turn.

Click me is showing the break down of the Dust production on this System. It was all fine until i noticed the massive -63 "From Distance with Empire". I do not understand how this was possible as it was a *single* jump from my homeworld, Click. By my logic, it is within my influence field, and a system 3 jumps from my homeworld (and just outside my influence area) did not have this but DID have -3.6 Happiness from Expansion disapproval... Both were full colonies. Am I missing something here or has my game bugged out? This is not the first time I have encountered this.

Yea people have noticed this, I haven't been tracking it though, did you try searching for threads related to that?

I tried searching but the topic is kinda flabby and it's difficult to find posts with similar topics or content to the bug I am having. I understand that it is a -50% dust per turn on that System, but I don't know why this would apply on a well populated system that is right next to your homeworld.

Alright quick question:

How do I turn the Combat GUI off? Sometimes I would like to enjoy the cinematic of the combat, and not have all this User Interface blocking the view.

This is probably really easy to figure out but I can't find it anywere...

What are the base accuracy values for different weapons at different ranges? Where is this information displayed?

EDIT: I even went to that very page before but somehow missed it.. Thanks.

I believe it is in the manual: you need to press "h" once to hide the interface during a combat.

For the life of me I could not find that...
