sorry for the noob question... is there a forum/place/chat where people meet to start games? i've just been playing MP for a few days and it seems like people just quit all the time. as soon as they're not going to win, they quit. as soon as the server disconnects, they quit. as soon as an air molecule floats by, they quit.

so... it'd be great to find some people that don't do that. i don't mind losing, but i do mind investing a bunch of time and then just feeling like it was a waste.

i'd also appreciate the ability to schedule sessions so that games could be finished later, but i'm not sure if anybody else really cares to do that.

thoughts/opinions/advice welcome...

Right here where you posted in multiplayer asking. I'll play with you on mostly any settings. I'm passive aggresive meaning I like to sit and build up and dont tend to start fights.

I hope to start a website that will cover endless space and have a lot of activities for MP in the future. We are currently developing content and future articles etc and we are probably some months away from launch still. But one of the tings I am looking at is making a ladder for endless space multiplayer and also a game of the month map war where you can report in your win loss for your faction and it will influence your factions result in a fictional overall war that will be covered on our webpage.

I'm oneoflittleharmony on steam, feel free to add me. I'm too new to the game to have a type, but I keep on causing all of my friends to ragequit, would like play against some new peeps. (I assume I am not very good at the game yet) We've mostly been playing supremacy only, without the economic/etc victories on. I wouldn't mind learning how to win that way too. (Although I think the wonder victory is far too easy and a cop-out)

The sync issues are fairly easy to spot and don't keep me from playing and enjoying the game. Whats the harm in having to stop occasionally to have someone rejoin or re-host?

Mainly the problem that once you detect the issue, and you reload - in most of the games the differences are way too big to keep playing the game. I.e. you'll have 5 colonizers either sitting on your home system, or orbiting around the systems you took XX turns ago.

If the sync differences were minor then it wouldn't be *that* much of a problem, right now they are absolutely game ruining, and we're all hoping for a fast and permanent fix - because the game design and the concept are absolutely fabulous. I'm pretty much a 4X fan for life, I've seen the bad, the ugly and the worst. This game is just so much better than everything else by so many factors, just the technical problems that are ruining it.

--- On a side note, this is really off-topic, but we can always blame Kyu for getting us here in the first place! ;-)

@OP I'm personally not playing anymore until the bugs are fixed. But having some kind of measure of people that are nice to play with would be good, that's a great idea in general, but let's wait for them to fix things, then we can talk about this sorta thing. Right now you can't really blame people for quitting out of frustration.

Sir Rogers

They are only easy to spot if they happen specifically to you, and possibly someone in your visible range. It can happen to anyone though, and who knows when it started... You could have outwitted and ambushed someones fleet, killed their hero too, countered all their manual battle actions, invaded their systems. Upon reload, the truth is you lost the battle, and you lost systems. You played a lie for 6 turns. You want to reload a save 7 turns ago, but your enemy now knows all about your ambush plan, it wont possibly work again. Your long plotted scheme is over, your strategy ruined. Game ruined.

Your ally sneak attacks you, there wasnt a real alliance, but you had earlier agreed to ignore each other. Now he invades you hard, on 2 fronts. Game desynchs. Reload it to before the sneak attack as its the closest working save. You arent gonna trust that player this time are you? Entire game just changed. Game ruined.

You get to turn 25, game crashes. Over and over again, every time you play, turn 25-40 has a crash. I hope you can see now how it ruins games.

On a side note, this is really off-topic, but we can always blame Kyu for getting us here in the first place! ;-)

What better way to celebrate 'Dr King Day' than by protesting for galactic civil rights?

I have yet to run into one that was more then a 3-5 turn difference. I watch the scores carefully and monitor my games well. If someones score is off by 1 I have them rejoin. (Your firewall can block things the game needs to run as well keep that in mind)

What are you talking about? Slaves have no rights. Now get back to work.
