Year 3105: The domestic situation

I'm currently setting up a run on endgame technologies. Perhaps it would have been faster to go for military techs directly, but I want to see what kind of numbers I can rack up.

Dust has ceased to be a problem, and I've achieved my first 1k production system.

I've taken the top spot in scores, though I'm still only 4th in military, and the Sophons lead in knowledge.

Yeah, the save file takes a few minutes to load. At least there wasn't much for the AI to consider at this point!

Year 3164

7 million MP. Over two thousand battleships.

The last Craver home system will fall in a turn.

As will three Horatio systems. This means...

As Year 3165 dawns, I achieve the expansion victory.

Final stats according to the endgame screen:

 • 165 turns
 • 249,765 score
 • 203,680 FIDS
 • 2,212 population
 • 80 systems
 • 7,924 research completed
 • 7,144,689 MP
 • 2,215 battleships

Year 3161

Military power: 5.8 million.

United Empire is almost gone.

I'm invading every Craver system at the same time.

Well, except for some random system next to the Sophon homeworld (!)

And every Horatio system at the same time.

Getting quite close now!

Well, you don't win Endless difficulty with only Expansion victory by sitting back at peace smiley: stickouttongue

To say nothing of the scumbag AI diplomacy. The AI is invariably rude, demanding, and jealous.

I really have to play that type of map eventually. The largest I've been on is either small or medium.

Year 3156

This is the last turn for the Hissho. To the west, I am invading their last original system of Lesath.

To the east, the Sophons are about to take their last holdout of Corana. I would have like to have Indusa with its six planets, but the influence didn't let me.

The Sophons are now hostile, though they won't declare war if they know what's good for them.

In the south, I am now invading every United Empire system at the same time.

At the same time? How could this happen, when the Hissho war took so long? Well, in less than a decade, I've increased my military power five-fold:

Yes, that is over 3.6 million MP in the form of over a thousand battleships. Where did this come from? The magic of Adaptive Industrial Systems.

Five digits of production on a single system, baby!

Time to declare war on the Cravers...

Year 3147

In the south I've finally cleared out all United Empire presence in the core, and am now moving into their home constellation.

In the north, I've taken over most of the Hissho's home constellation, including their home system of Janus.

Indeed, most of the remaining Hissho systems are outside their home constellation in former United Empire space. To the southeast, the Hissho and Sophons are trading systems. The Hissho seem to have a numerical advantage, but the Sophons have superior technology.

To the northeast lie the strongest remaining Hissho holdings.

Of particular interest is Ghykra II with its 3 Hydromiel. With this I would have a monopoly; the +20% smiley: food bonus would be a great boon for my empire.

Especially as Adaptive Industrial Systems is starting to come online.

Year 3140

The Sophons and Hissho have traded a system each, while I'm steadily rolling in from the southwest. The Hissho won't be able to keep this up for long.

After just six turns the Horatio asked for peace. I accept... for now. I still have to chase off their swarm attempt, though.

Saboteur is great. I'm earning piles of Dust every turn from it since it's an empire-wide effect.

This is how much Dust I started the turn with.

This is how much Dust I had on the same turn after destroying about two dozen enemy fleets.

Year 3134

I've finished conquering the other Amoeba.

Teal United Empire is no more. The Hissho are invading the Sophons, though with the superior Sophon technology, they are unlikely to maintain the offensive.

In the south, the United Empire is wearing itself out, while the Horatio declare war on me. They have a very large number of ships, but their technology is poor. This should be a short war.

I've reached first place in military power (at 363903), though still only 4th in command points. Technologically, I'm setting up the endgame with Adaptive Industrial Systems. This will take several turns of building, but should result in massive increases in Industry.

Year 3119

Teal is reduced to a single backwater system. They'll be gone soon.

The other Amoeba are on their last legs.

Neither the Hissho or the Light Green United Empire fronts have moved much. But that's soon to start changing...

I've taken the 1st spot in technology.

Figured I'd try out the new Endless difficulty on the largest map possible.

The setup

Galaxy settings: Huge Disk-4, 8 empires, high density, many close constellations, high string and wormhole connectivity.

Game settings: Endless difficulty, no pirates, expansion victory only.

This is going to be a long game.

Apart from the usual must-haves, I'm taking the usual Amoeba route of relying on Blockade Breaker trade for Dust and Science instead of native production. The rest of my traits are focused on super-expansion, with increases to food, and cheap colony ships.

Year 3105: The military situation

Teal's years are numbered. They sued for peace from me, which I accepted, but that's not enough to save them.

As for the Hissho, I'm only sending enough fleets to roughly hold the line. Instead, most of my fleets are going to...

The other Amoeba, who have declared war on me. Their ships are the weakest I've fought against so far, so I'm planning to conquer them first, then roll into the Hissho from the side.

Most troublesome are the United Empire from the south, who have also declared war. Their ships are the most powerful of all of the AIs, with some pretty heavy beam and shield stacking.

However, my admiral has reached level 20, so I just send her down to deal with Light Green.

Year 3086

Progress is slow due to my choice of a builder strategy at this point. I'm not sure if I could have won faster with a more militaristic strategy--it certainly would have got me conquering faster, but I'm not sure I could deal with the resulting disapproval.

The north side is a mess. Yellow Hissho has declared war on both me and Teal United Empire.

United Empire is taking the worst of it--they're also fighting against Green Sophons, who are currently leading in score.

The other United Empire is looking pretty threatening in the south.

I've reached 2nd place in the scores list.

Year 3069

Teal United Empire has declared war on me. Not a surprise, since I snatched Corvus from their home constellation. No systems have changed hands so far though.

Fortunately, by this point I've finished building Approval structures and now have free Industry to build some ships. Here's my omni-tank Battleship design at this point in the game. I've also hired the third hero for my admiral.

Before I drive off Teal United Empire, though, I've got to deal with the other United Empire intruding from the south.

Domestically, I just finished Inter-Species HR and am now heading for Soil Revivification. This should put an end to my Approval problems for a while.

The Sophons have taken the lead, and I have improved from 6th to 4th place in the scores.

Nice walkthrough so far... Time to hunker down and sop up some Warfare Tech... Moon tech has proven valuable... My ratio has been roughly 1 in 4 moons has a temple. Hope for some extra approval temples.

Year 3040: The domestic situation

I followed my usual tech strategy against the AI: after getting the first tier or two of techs, I beelined Applied Casimir Effect to expand into the core as early as possible. After that, I got Nonbaryonic Particles for the research building and luxuries, then Optimized Logistics for Approval buildings. At this point I am going for the moon techs. I only have enough military techs to get the first defensive building to stall enemies.

For a superexpansion strategy, this point in the game is a race to get Colonial Rights and Infinite Supermarkets up before too many outposts become colonies and start suffering from expansion disapproval. (It mystifies me why the devs decided that outposts shouldn't suffer from expansion disapproval.) Can you guess which of these systems are colonies?

Year 3040: The territorial situation

The results of my superexpansion strategy:

Here's my home constellations. I've colonized eight out of nine systems here--the remaining one consists of a single asteroid belt, so I haven't bothered.

Here's the real prize--the galactic core. There are sixteen systems here, and I've grabbed ten of the eleven best ones. (The other Amoeba got to Zhuyin and its Small Jungle with Cyber Flora before I could.)

I even managed to snatch one system in Teal's home constellation before they could get to it! They seem to be rather displeased at this.

All told, I have nineteen systems, more than any of the AIs. With colonization done, this sets the stage for midgame.

My main colony ship was a Corvette with a Seed Mod and Lossless Fusion Pods. With my traits, this cost just 73.5 smiley: industry each.

The home system:

This is why Unlucky Colonists is great--often times, it only gives you a partially bad anomaly.

Great hero selection:

Administrator/Corporate is the best governor combination, and having a second Administrator is great in the early game. Commander/Adventurer makes a great admiral.

Disk-4 is arranged in a ring, with a core constellation; on Many constellations, each faction gets their own starting constellation. Clockwise, we have
• Red me.
 • Blue Amoeba.
 • Yellow Hissho.
 • Teal United Empire.
 • Green Sophons.
 • Pink Cravers.
 • Light Green United Empire.
 • Orange Horatio.

 •
I scrap my starting scout to save upkeep and send my colony ship east to Naos, which has a medium Terran and a large Arid.
