The Leralons (Faction)

I like this faction and would like to see it in the game.
I like this faction, but I feel that it could be improved.
This idea is bad, and HumanSpacer should feel bad.

What caused your species to become the way it did? What relations do they have to dust as well?

About the Greek mytholohy, yes, it is can be also called that way because it existed during the Classical era/Classical antiquity - the era of the Greek philosophers and of the Roman Empire.

About my species evolution, it has nothing with the Dust. They also have their physiologic flaws, like their small arms. But they were lucky enough to have a very good intellect and to develop a civilization prematurely.

EDIT: Yeah, maybe our bad physiology is a essential balance to our intelligence.

And I, a supporter of the Greek Pantheon, believe that it's because Pandora opened the vase (Pandora's box) and released all those.. emotions and stuff :P

Another update! I've changed one of the Leralon traits (I've replaced Black Thumbs with Unskilled Builders), besides having expanded their affinity and lore. I have added a text to the lore, it is the starting post of this thread, but I'll also put it here:

Another interesting fact about the Leralons is that they don't use concrete, cement and bricks as the basic material in buildings, like we humans do. Instead, the Leralons use iron, hexaferrum, adamantian, titanium and other minerals of the type. This happens because iron existed in a enormous abundance in the Leralon homeworld, so in ancient era of the Leralon civilization, after they discovered how to mine iron, it was way easier to use iron in buildings, instead of stone and marble, considering that iron is more resistent than stone and marble. As time passed, buildings made up of iron became a part of the Leralon culture and civilization. However, in the "current days", when the Leralons are a advanced civilization and are already starting to travel to the stars, iron is no longer abundant due to extreme exploitation of it during the Leralon history, forcing them to use titanium (not titanium-70, I mean the "normal" titanium here) in their buildings. But with the discoveries of the adamantian, hexaferrum and titanium-70, all of this can change, making such minerals the basic materials in the Leralon infraestructure. Hexaferrum also exists in abundance in Feros, the Leralon homeworld.

An interesting relationship between the lore and the traits/affinity: the trait "Unskilled Builders" makes sense with the lore because constructing buildings with metals may slow down and make harder the construction. Meanwhile, the disposal of titanium-70, adamantian and hexaferrum, which are stronger materials, can make the construction easier, decreasing the industry cost of system improvements.

New affinity feature: Heavy Buildings

Each resource of titanium-70, adamantian and hexaferrum decreases the cost of improvements in 5% at all systems.

Here is it! I've finished the concept for the Leralons's corvette, which is one of the two ships you start the game with (the other ship is the transport/colony ship).

What do you guys think of it?

Other than your budding artist skills, not really - but I'm having trouble with my proportions and final off-looking product as well to a lesser degree - I'm currently trying to find a way to draw figures better and also to draw gauntlets, feet and faces. We all have to start somewhere with drawing and this is a very good start, you get your concept easily understood.

Thanks.

And guys, sorry for the lack of updates, I have been very busy with school on these last days... But anyway, I soon start drawing the rest of their ships design. Just wait for it. smiley: cool

Actually, the monitor is a hologram which is projected by some mechanisms in the alien's clothing.

Edit: Also, I will rework their traits to fit better in the faction's lore.

Drawing things out of your mind is the hardest way to draw.

If you want to learn it from scratch, I recommend the book "Drawing on the right side of the brain".

To the OP:

I monitor this with high interest, keep it up! smiley: biggrin

Well done they look good but I have one question, is it catching the thing by its hand or throwing it or making it float with telekinesis?

Yeah, it does a little, but I didn't base the Leralon's appearance on the Deuiyvan one. I just wanted to creat something non humanoid.

Well it is in part because you can't really guess what you would see in the universe that is intelligent. Could us humans being the smartest mammal on Earth an accident? Or is it because our physiology is the only one that can advance to our levels...

I think it is an accident, because our physiology isn't all that good.

But aliens could have any physiology, and still, they could be as intelligent as we are.
