But that's no fun! We need a HUGE motivator, otherwise why would Zukrov betray Maximilian? He's killing aliens isn't he? Well if we put the revenge motivator in, he's more upset that Maximilian isn't killing them fast enough. Puts someone in a plotting mood when the Emperor isn't as evil as he used to be...

In ES?

We aren't really sure, but it is based on string travel and warp travel.

String travel only works between 2 systems that are connected by the string, whatever it is (I feel like it its a kind of gravity fissure between systems that allows FTL devices to fold space).

And warp travel creates a warp bubble to enter sub-space and move faster then the speed of light.

I think anyway.

Well the idea of "he isn't killing them fast enough" sounds perfectly plausible. But just straight-up xenophobia doesn't make sense because the UE as a whole is xenophobic.

We really need some kind of ideas page for the wiki, just to get all of the good ideas in one place for people to use in the proper written lore.

Either way the Commander would be upset with the Emperor for not taking action and wiping out the other races when he could just mobilize the Sherydan, but as a commander he wouldn't be the one to scheme the rebellion in the first place. And now that I think about it, why don't we call it a Revolution? Just so it's harder to mix up the Republic rebels with the extreme Empire rebels. I wonder what a communistic space empire would look like? (excluding aliens that were made that way)

A communistic space empire would just be the soviet union in space, with all its horrors, and all it's glory.

Theoretically the UUR could be very socialist when compared to the empires greater reliance on capitalism and blatant slavery of anyone who isn't a capitalist......gotta love dem cheap nike shoes man!

Taking into account that a turn is a whole year, I'm guessing that its the same way we have it right now, just flying through space using hydrogen/oxygen engines, the whole line thing never made sense to me, one of the reasons I like Sword of the Stars, the humans use these... space tunnels I believe, which are basically river streams to push them forward, but they can only follow them. Other races have hyperdrives that can take them anywhere they want as long as they have the fuel.

Not exactly. At this point in time with fully developed empires, it'll be difficult. If it was a new colony completely isolated? It'll work more (as long as they don't have any military officers on the colony ship who'll end up taking command). Isolated colonies are a perfect way for experimentation. Democracy isn't perfect, communism had some problems (explained if you read the book Animal Farm by George Orwell :P) but if you start fresh you can try it out and maybe find a perfect way of doing it.

Depends on when the plan is to make this event happen.

If it happens later, it could be during a Craver invasion of the Empire, Amoeba, UUR, Hissho and Sophon empires. Doomsday if you ask me.

Year 4500, "The Craver forces have finally united under one banner, and with information from pirates who went on to harass other races, they created a giant armada and launched an invasion against the other puny forces. (Just some random stuff from here) The UUR leader John Harkstone and the new UE Emperor Zukrov, knowing the power of the Cravers combine and prepare to meet this onslaught. But that's a story for another time." Now I'm not saying this will be the actual ending, just an idea for a massive invasion or something, haha. Ignore it I guess?

Well communism is a economic thing, not a government thing.

Communistic nations can be democratic, but usually at best they are a 1 party government.

What I said was they the UUR could be more socialist in their economy then the UE, the UUR is still a democracy.

Like China? They're technically democratic but there's only one party. Actually kinda smart if you ask me :P

But yeah. The UUR is democratic and socialist but I think they'd still be capitalistic. And the UE is, of course, autocratic.

Yeah, the UUR would possibly have a kind of futuristic European socialism....with all the corruption that brings.

And the UE is autocratic at the top end, but just like the vanilla lore most of their territory is ruled by corporations and dukes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_and_noble_ranks kinda like some of the titles here.

Well its the Communist Party of China, and its not democratic, the government chooses everything, you don't vote for any leader or anything. Is it smart? Depends if you think totalitarianism is smart.

Communism is like capitalism, an economic type of government. Yes Free Enterprise is a better example than just saying capitalism smiley: stickouttongue. The idea of Communism, or mainly what its derived from, Marxism, is "Democracy". Where the people are the government. There is no "leader" and no one is superior. But UUR would have to be socialistic to even try and convince their people they're better than the UE smiley: stickouttongue

Are we sure we want UUR to be nobility? Not really democratic, nor towards the lore. We can have governors, being supported since thats what the heroes in the game are (if you go industry and whatever the thing is)

Literally, no china is not, but technically and officially it is a 1 party democracy......-_- so yeah.

It's smart in the sense in how it keeps control, but not in any moral sense.

I meant more, at the best communism was usually a 1 party system, compared to the worst where it was a violent autocracy.

And even if the UUR wasn't different then the UE, there would still be those willing to fight.....for fighting sake.

Nobility aren't exactly democratic, they are all really based on the power passing from parent to child.

And it make sense for the emperor to seed rulers throughout the empire, and that's not just for micromanagement sake.

The idea is that without local rulers, a far flung colony could rebel, win and build up a defense fleet long before the empire fleet would arrive to quell the original rebellion......space is really really big, and people who live hundreds of light-years away don't really threaten you.

I don't know where to start with this. We have the UUR, which to the best of my understanding is a democratic somewhat socialist leaning group, and the UE which is autocratic to the point of being a monarchy. The UE at this point is not completely totalitarian, more of a brainwashed conglomerate of nobility, that is controlled by the current leader, Emperor Maximilian in this case. However, Maximilian is special in that he has the power of immortality, and so demonstrates his own involvement in matters more readily than any Emperor before him, because he doesn't need to worry about succession.

One side of the revolutionists seeks to turn the entire UE into a communistic (ie. Soviet Union) style of government, with everything being controlled by a single leader as all of humanity strives for a single goal and all references to nobility or revoked, the other is trying to replace Maximilian with a complete military dictatorship, complete autocratic rule without interference from the nobility or the people. Anything the government says is immediately law, and the military provides the backbone.

The UUR despises all of these options, but will likely back both rebellions in an effort to destabilize the current Empire, so long as none of them grow too powerful. They will soon have The Carter to back themselves up, but even it would only put a small dent in the massive Human empire, but if they were using those fleets to fight each other than The Carter would be unstoppable.

In the cold war, the American special services actively funded terrorists and dictators so they would prevent the spread of communism....not that the soviets were any better.

So I would be glad that the UUR aren't actually doing more of it, every side has their crazy's and fanatics, no need to feed them weapons and money as well.

Never know what they might do.

And here we thought the empire was bad, the alternative could be worse. Better to stick with the devil you know right?

I'm not sure the UUR would contain many UE supporters if they UUR used propaganda by showing the damage done to madrigal and giving the UE its rightful credit :P

Well if it's an autocracy, I don't think Maximilian would want to give too much power to people, and Dukes would have quite a lot of power, and don't need to necessarily answer to the Emperor for everything. :P

That isn't communism, but its what Stalin (not even a russian) made the USSR into.

But the two different revolutionists idea is very good smiley: biggrin

Peace through power. :P

I wasn't saying that they would be UE supporters, but more they wouldn't be entirely in the UUR for the democracy, peace and love.

Revolution ha taken over as a wave, and not all of the people on either side are really fighting it for either of the original sides.

Thus why I proposed the original second rebellion, when the supporters of the UE are not taking their chance now that the UE's eyes (And forces) are indisposed at the present time. Its power grabbing time.

Well if it's an autocracy, I don't think Maximilian would want to give too much power to people, and Dukes would have quite a lot of power, and don't need to necessarily answer to the Emperor for everything. :P

And they don't, but micromanaging the governorship of hundreds of star systems, hundreds of planets and everything in between would be difficult for a computer to do.

So sometimes you have to delegate, and not all of the delegates are trustworthy in hindsight.
