Well you don't just draw something from scratch in a computer smiley: stickouttongue

You have to sketch it first then use a little something that we call a scanner...

I thought I could do it 100% in my computer. smiley: alder

Yeah, I know what a scanner is, I have one right here on my side. At least I have good drawing skills (but only with a pencil).

Sorry, the scanner thing was just a joke. It wasn't a jab. I knew that you knew what a scanner was lol

The Draconian - which i haven't worked on due to moving - was done COMPLETELY from a mouse. The secret is a low transparency and a lot of SHIFT + Z. However, from now on I'm using my hybrid because its faster to get a concept rolling.

EDIT: Oh yeah, i'm back now by the way. The techniques i learned are simply experience with... pencils... i have not idea how the skill transferred.

I wouldn't mind trying out some of my affinity ideas in game so if anyone wants to help me in their spare time to further my development it would be much appreciated.

All strategic resources provide +1 more smiley: industry per pop.

All luxury resources provide +1 more smiley: food per pop.

All anomalies provide + 1 more smiley: science and smiley: dust. <- open to suggestions as the faction anomaly might end up yielding +1 smiley: stickouttongueopulation:, +1(2) smiley: industry, +1(2) smiley: food (and +1 smiley: science and :dustsmiley: smile.

I felt that alone the Strat and lux improvement was too small since it depends on whether or not you find the resource and have the population to exploit it; I think this is balanced but it really depends. I think ill leave all the fids and population improvements as techs. If it seems a little unbalanced I might just downplay the anomaly improvement.

For a nice little test, lets assume i have a system with 6 pop on a Terran and so does a Sophon player, tax rate is at 0%, no exploits, no constructions, no additional research, lets forget about food consumption and approval bonuses - but there is Dustwater on both. So in all the Sophons get 30 food, 12 industry, 30 dust and 12 science (21.6 if we include the 80% more science factor); the Tohari however get 36 food, 12 industry, 30 dust and 12 science, but we construct things for cheaper so its OK that they have a lead in science - but it gets fun when we have an anomaly as well. All i worry is that in high resource games it gets out of hand or in low resource games it doesn't kick off, but since everyone is being affected by the lack of resources or the abundance I just exploit it more.

Edit: If anyone thinks this seems a bit mundane I'm open to a radical suggestion to either completely change how this works or cuts parts off and replaces it with something interesting; like every build built does something... interesting way to increase construction efficiency, something involving diplomacy, a cooperation// infrastructure bonus on each planet etc. etc.

I'll probably use this slot for my Page 2 of my development to separate the ships and general ideas.

Here's some faction symbol ideas for now:

These are focused around hexagonal shapes, I might try some geometric wings, more natural stuff, etc. later.

I could actually see this used as displacement UVs for your ships. That would make some nice detail.

In my opinion, you should focus on natural stuff, since I've never seen the Hissho using geometric shapes for anything. And also because I plan to make the symbol for my faction something more geometric, and I love hexagons.

I'd say number 3. Why? Because it's the most "tribal" one, considering that the Hissho arts (which have a tribal nature) took over the Draconians one.

If i get enough support for one of these designs here, I'll probably look at it in isolation and carve it up.

Here's a crazy idea... why not have part of their affinity or race tech have something to do with the Garden of Eden anomalies?

For example their Home World could be a Garden of Eden, which is why they are very much a cooperative based faction.

AND/OR

One of their Terraforming techs could be to create a Garden of Eden "anomaly" on tier 2 planets or better. So they can make Arid/Tundra/Jungle/Ocean/Terran planets into Garden's of Edens.

I think that would be REALLY cool. And of course this would be a costly improvement and could also backfire on the player if they start losing systems.

This would almost be a double-edged sword type gameplay and could really add some strategic depth to the game.

As for your original ideas and the other part of their affinity why not do something like this:

+5% FIDS bonus to "Happy Systems"

+10% FIDS bonus to "Ecstatic Systems"

A simple non-stacking bonus (either or) so they don't become OP with Colonial Rights stacked.

What are the system approval rates in the game right now? I know if your empire is on ecstatic you get and additional +10% FIDS bonus, but i don't know the system rates for their own happiness.

The Garden of Eden generator would be a very interesting faction tech for the late game; i like the idea a lot.

I could function between additional FIDS as the affinity and/or techs, or the current resource exploitation system as a affinity... or as a tech.

I sorta knew this, but not the hard numbers. That's why I always try to keep my "people" at their happiest.
