Step by step of the bug
Step 1
Ransack a tile.
Step 2
Be interrupted by [Enemy A], who is at war with [Enemy B].
Step 3
Have the battle be indecisive and need to be continued next turn.
Step 4
Have [Enemy A] vassalize [Enemy B] at the beginning of the next turn.

Attacked while ransacking an outpost, the battle seems to just end in a draw for no reason, and then my unit disappears but still exists in some alternate dimension. I posted a video of the bug to the Reddit thread here:
