... I'm kind of amazed at my seeming ability to ignore obvious things. I went for fame, since for some reason I remembered the conditions to be "most fame, tie-broken by turn number". Race be damned. In any case, I've spent too much of my day on this, and I'm not willing to go for it again.

Some feedback: the Nation difficulty is too easy, the opponent is not a threat at all, it's not much fun dealing with just one AI doing absolutely nothing on a map this small, and there was no sense of challenge other than the timer and, consequently, optimization. In hindsight, I did not enjoy it past the Ancient era.

So Humankind is that kind of crack cocaine for me, I've been bothered by the thought of doing better the latter part of the week, so I went and did it. The plan was not scrutinized whatsoever, I kept forgetting some minor decisions, and picking Egyptians to get some industry before going all-in into science may have been a sub-optimal choice. In any case, the colony on Mars launched on turn 50.

My opinion on the challenge has not changed very much, though. After the second time, it's still a slog.

All of you guys posting these files have DLC's or special versions of the game which prevent the loading of your save game files. Anyway, I don't understand how you build the mars colony, when it takes 25 turns, just to uncover the map.

No need for an allicance, just offer to trade "share maps" and the AI will agree.

In any case, you should have at least 3 developed cities before you explore the continent. And you should be close to winning by the time you explore the two islands.

Good point, thanks! I am more curious about whether the boost to science or influence could streamline the whole scenario.

doesn't add up that much science in the long run. you are better off with the territory. but if you need red alive for the killing star, then might as well ally it.

If it contributed even 1k science, it would be worth weighing against the hassle of resources and a test site that comes with yielding even a couple territories to your ally. It is just easier to take Red out at one's convenience.

Also, apologies for hijacking your thread Fahhrader. Hopefully you have been happily playing these days or at least getting used to the slog.

Haha, no problem, I'm just glad to read some insights here :) I'm not an active player, the only reason I've been coming to Humankind lately is to try and tackle this challenge twice so far. Been fun in the retrospective.

Glad to hear you had fun with this challenge. I also enjoy the insights and hope for more strategizing in future, on whichever thread proves convenient!
