i casually play the normal RTS games like age of empires and command and conquer.

i saw the screenshots on steam and it looked nice and would like to see some gameplay of this game

Welcome! I don't know how much gameplay can be seen of Humankind right now, but if you want a rough idea of the flow that this game might have, you can look up many of the gameplay videos people have of Endless Legend. It seems like Humankind will be working on the foundations that Endless Legend laid, so it'll be sorta like that.

As a general rule, expect a lot slower gameplay than an RTS. The equipment that you bring into a fight is often far, far more important than the fight itself, so a sizeable chunk of 4X games is resource and economy management.

I love me some Age of Empires but turn based is the real deal.   Try Endless Legend sometime - the base game is plenty good to start with, you don't need all the DLC unless you've been playing a long time and want something new.
