So this might fall under the umbrella of "Soon™" but I noticed in the the last dev diary a stack of boxes labeled Dawn of Humankind A Dice Game. Expanding to our table tops as well?

I think that will be just a by-product of the design process. Game designers really like to simulate how a mechanism would work by making a short board game.

We only made a limited run of these for the original announcement of Humankind, so I am afraid it does not fall under "Soon™" but rather the past. We're thinking about putting the rules up for download, but Meedoc, who is responsible for this game, has been refining the rules, so we are not ready for that yet.

If we do add the rules to the Games2Gether rewards, we'll be sure to announce it here on G2G and on our social media accounts.

Huh. As an avid tabletop gamer and 4X fan I am impressed, and look forward to seeing this.

Huh, TIL that most game developers make an shortened version of games as  a model for the end result.

The-Cat-o-Nine, is this a common idea in game development or something unique here at amplitude studios?

Anyway, it looks pretty cool!

As far as I know, it is quite common in video game design, or at least strategy game design. After all, it's pretty difficult to design a board-game prototype of a game like Dark Souls or Doom or The Witcher, so for those games they might not make physical prototypes.

Actually a fun anecdote is that when we prepared these as a little Gamescom gift, we didn't know that the dice factory would be closing for the summer. Cue us combing all over Paris to find suitable D12s to put in the boxes. In the end we managed to find another supplier, but we kept the dice we had that had nice colors, so most of these boxes are truly one of a kind!
