How soon before the announcement of the release date would you guys expect to see the hardware specs for Humankind release?

Not really sure how this kind of thing works with Amplitude.

I ask as i'm thinking of upgrading my workstation soon.

Thanks in advance.

I'd imagine something similar to Endless Legend, if nothing official comes out for a while I'd plan it based off of that.

That is unfortunate. I am also wondering what the specs will be and if we don't get it within a month or so I might just postpone my upgrade to next year.

Any game can be optimized before release. Or may not. So if devs will public hight system requirements, some potential players with weak computers will loose interest. But if devs will public optimistic requirements and then won't have time or possibility to reach them, lots of players will be angry.

Is Humankind everything you'll need from new PC? I don't understand this mentality, you either need new parts and you buy them, or you actually don't, so you don't buy it. There is no reason to postpone or purchase just in case, when it comes to PC parts.

We're not ready to talk about minimum/recommended specs yet, sorry.

Yep, that's fair enough.  Thanks for replying.  Are you able to give us a ballpark figure as to how long before the official release date the specs are likely to be announced?

My current workstation is ok for the games I currently play (mostly older 4x games and CRPGs that can handle lower graphics settings).

I've been planning on upgrading my computer for a while but figured I may as well wait and see what Humankind's requirements are.

If it was urgent i'd just make an educated guess and upgrade now.

Unfortunately I don't know, but  by my guess it will be some time still before we can talk about requirements.

You can estimate requirements by looking at Endless Space 2 and then adding 3 years top of hardware updates to those. Humankind is still using Unity, it has great detail fidelity, but nothing over the top. So you'll end with something like 7th gen i3 (5th gen i5) for Intel, or 1st gen Zen for AMD, NVidia 9xx and 8 gigs RAM in the lower specs recommended. I expect even older hardware to be able to run it just fine, because ES2 worked at 1080p max settings on FX-6300 and GTX 660Ti for me. Or you can look at other recent games in this genre, like Civ VI and AoW Planetfall.

Makes perfect sense to me.. Humankind is the first game I've been excited for in over 5+ years, and, I too am curious as to whether I will need an upgrade for the only game I have had genuine interest in playing for the last half decade lol

Not many games coming out nowadays worth upgrading a PC over, especially if your PC is already doing what you need it do in the first place.
