I really must know if during middle ages everything vaguely eastern european will be lumped into russia, as is nearly always the case? Mind im not asking to make everyone there their own unique thing but I'd rather not have them at all than to be just plastered into russia cause noone cares. Thanks for replies.

There is no Eastern European/Slav culture atm at all during middle ages, mb Rus' will be added at a later add-on. Russia most certainly will be added at some point as Early Modern/Industrial civ (given we've seen St Basil's Cathedral). Another candidate could be Commonwealth in Early Modern.  Some other cultures (e.g. Czech or Walachian) might be added as minor factions. 

The rest is simply not big enough to incorporate into the game where you can only have 10 world cultures per era. Not sure which one exactly you're talking about and how you can incorporate them into Russia.

Given that our historian adamantly keeps stressing that the Varangian Guards were recruited not just from scandinavia but also from Kievan Rus, I'm fairly sure it's on his mind. :)

Of course, I don't have any idea yet what post-release content we'll be providing, what with the game being at least half a year from release. I can't tell you about how the cultures for the medieval were selected, either, since those decisions were made before I joined Amplitude, and I haven't had a chance to ask about it.

Yes, I hope they have less cultures which are the same lineage of people but different eras. I also hope they focus more on how unique a culture was and how influential it was given it's surroundings and size. Just because the US, Russia, and China are the largest modern countries doesn't in my opinion entitle them to occupy slots in every era they were present in. China could have been featured as a main culture in every single era, but that would have been boring and meant other cultures would go unrepresented.

I think you can rely on modding-community to satisfy your expectations.

I think we've already seen some vaguely winged hussar-ish unit in one of the screenshots, so Commonwealth is probably in. As others wrote, with handful of cultures you'll always come up with set that won't satisfy someone.

True, on one of the screenshots cavarly unit look like winged hussar...There might be also Austrian empire in the Industrial era (or smth with the yellow-blackish flag)

As I sad in the OP - this isn't a request to make some specific cultures or whatever, I just don't want middle ages eastern europe be covered by russia cause it wasnt even there yet, like its typically done in other games. I'm actually fine with having it empty if this is the only alternative. This was/is a very specific question.

i want to see hungary in the game but that never going to happen they did most of the history during they rise from 900 to 1556
