They are working on a major update called the vitruvian update which is gonna change a lot of things like war support, religion, affinities, etc. Don't know when it will be released though. But they are still working on this game

For clarity, and to moderate expectations: The Surrender changes will not be part of the Vitruvian Update. We're working on that, but it's not yet ready to ship.

Update supposedly will come out April 21st.

There is some grumbling about it being a shallow update, but until we get the release notes we can only speculate. Development takes a lot of effort.

And yes I would believe that the studio is working on their next game. Endless Legends 2 will be announced this summer, right @The-Cat-o-Nine-Tales? :)

I'm excited for endless legends 2, I just hope to the ging gods it does not have a faction limit on it this time. It sucks when there are 20 factions and you can only play with 10.

Sorry to say, but our next game is Endless Dungeon. Between that and the big team working on Humankind, there won't be any announcements about future games any time soon.

How would there ?

I think what a lot of players are forgetting is, amplitude is a small company.

They have around 150 workers. I expect that less than 50 of those are guys actualy writing code. Since there are so many other jobs a company needs to.

Of those 50 we expect about 35 will be working on the new game, and about 10 on humankind.

The last 5 most likely do some bug fixing for older games and help out where needed.

So there is just not any Development power left for any other project we don't know about

(Numbers are rough estimates)

The other way around is closer to the truth, I'd say, because the Humankind live team is in fact about 35 people (I am not sure right now if it is exactly 35). I am not sure about the total size of both production teams combined, though (as a lot of people have joined during remote work, and I have lost count.)

As much as I love Endless Legends I would rather see some of the features of that game in Humankind than an Endless Legends 2. I personally like the closer to history strategy games.

The only reason I joked about Endless Legends 2 was because of the Nvidia leak.

other way around? are there actually less people making Endless Dungeon then people keeping humankind standing? Is that why so few and small content has been revealed of Endless Dungeon?

As I mentioned, I don't know the exact sizes of the teams at the moment. The point was that there are about 35 people working on Humankind, and I think it is close to that for Endless Dungeon, but I don't know precisely until I get a chance to ask HR or the producers.

I know the minor votes have you and other players worried, but I assure you we are still hard at work on the game. And while we are waiting for the moment when we can share some big new, we may as well throw out some small votes to let the community decide a small part of the saloon.

I think it's really dissapointing because other live teams like civ VI  (the most similar game) managed to keep a consistent update schedule (specially with the battle pass) with also a small team size.

With some youtubers I watch (like PotatoMcWhiskey) and freinds I have the consensus seem to be that the game has a lot of potential but the slow updates has killed the momentum and it's very unfortunate and gives the vibes Amplitude have some management troubles to resolve

I hope the team can get it together to be more consistent tbh.

I also love this game but I can't help that all the delays and troubles just killled the interest. And things like events that are only for european or developed countries don't help the vibes either.

I can second Cat-o-nine-Tales telling you that the team is no more than 35 people, and all of them are not only programmers or game designers.

Also for more clarity, we have been working a lot on the AI behaviours the last few weeks ( you'll be able to see some changes coming along the next patch). We also focused on some bigger features rework and player experience, things that will come really really soon ^^

So do not worry, we didn't give up on the community, neither on the game. In fact we do have big plans for it ! With a "smaller" team it just takes us time to gather feedbacks, process them, rework some features of the games according to those feedbacks, fix bugs, try to work on new content...

Anyway, thank you for your support and patience! And I can assure you again that really soon you'll see some bigger improvements.

Same here Sjru.  My friends are just pretty much done waiting for updates months on end.  I am getting less and less hopeful I'll ever get them to buy this game.  :(

While hearing AI will be improved is really great, will you please take a look at culture balance? I don't think any sane person can say USA and Soviets are anywhere near balanced, with Soviets being insanely OP (do I need to explain why?)and USA being insanely under powered... 1 gold per trade route? If you have 100 trade routs thats +`100 gold/turn which is like... less than 1% of your income in the contemporary age on a big map.  Another example would be the Edo Japanese unit, 5 stronger than normal, anti mounted, extra speed so you can't out maneuver it, AND honor code so you can't even retreat... really OP. There is some really clear bias on the cultures. Humans inherently have bias, we all do, so I expect there to be some (for example, some Blizzard original WoW devs have stated they favor Horde) but it's like really blatant with some of the cultures. Please fix this so I don't have to constantly look to mods.  Fixing the cultures is not hard at all, I am currently trying and other people have had mods up for months, it would be maybe 1 days work for 1 team member to just give a little buff to some cultures and a nerf to others. There has been thread after thread about it here, Reddit, Discord and Mod.io if you need ideas.

Not that I disagree, but Honor Code is a nerf, it disallows that unit to retreat, not their enemies. Still, it sucks that Varangian Guards, who were similarly OP in their era, got nerfed to the ground, to the point they're not much better than generic Greatswordsmen and get a 'no retreat' thing stuck on top of them, making them basically useless for anything but eye-candy.

Hmm was it always that way? I vividly remember raging one game soon after the game released because the Edo Japanese declared war on me (one of the higher difficulties we were even tech) and my army could not escape or retreat or win the fight due to how strong they were. There is no real counter unit until musketmen. Most over Unique Units you can at least avoid or beat with its counter unit.

Yes, I find it very odd the Varangian Guard were nerfed and the Edo Japanese were not. Someone on the Dev team is def a weeb and hammer and sickle fan, and must HATE USA, the bonuses are so bad I can't believe it's real... I would honestly love to talk to the dev behind it and get the reasoning. Who honestly looked at +3 CS and unlimited +1 CS AND -20% unit cost vs ONE gold per trade route and 10 inf on resources being sold and said "ah... perfect game balance"

Yeah, that one is a real shame, I really like the idea behind making both Americans and Soviets Expansionists, so that they could butt their heads all over the world without necessarily declaring war, I wouldn't mind if due to this they would be both outperforming other cultures available in Contemporary, but it's a no-go with one being just OP and the other being questionable choice, unless they're the last culture left (and then it would likely be better to transcend and juice the most star-forcused era for extra fame).

Honestly, almost makes me think that Soviets LT is a mistake made on design table and it was supposed to be -3 instead of +3 CS, which would make more sense and even then their Arms Factory would require additional cap, unless we finally get a Stability rework that makes it so you won't swim in it late game (I think that was supposed to be controlled by Pollution, but then the games were ending prematurely, so we had a quick nerf to Pollution, while Stability surplus remained).

Interesting you say that. I was modding the game myself and I considered starting them at -3 but the arms factories would still be an issue. I am going to try changing the +3 CS to -30% unit upkeep and changing weapons to .5 CS. The editor will take the value but I'm not sure it will work in game, as I don't know of anything else that adds a fraction, its all whole numbers, 1 or more. Ideally, I'd want Soviets to be like Minus 50% population (rounded up) on all units produced, -30-50% upkeep, and MINUS CS on all units, like say 2. That would be more in line with real life, they would have a huge cheap army but be weaker per unit than the other contemporary cultures.

We played with a mod before that changed them to 0.5 and it did work mechanicly in game.

Just as info, the display will always round up numbers to the next full number, but it will still use the real number for calculations
