Cultural fusion through conquest?

So, in the new trailer they said that after the war their society became a fusion of the two cultures. Does this just mean that you can see some of the old buildings from the previous culture hanging around (and thus making it hypothetically possible for a single city to have buildings from every single culture) or do you actually gain some of the gameplay bonuses of those you conqured? Does conquering a city with a special district give you the option to build it whenever you want? Does the old leader become a vassal civ that can still earn some fame on their own but gives a lot of other bonuses to you? If so, does this last till the end of the era? 2 eras? End of the game? What if a human player is conquered?

I was also thinking about this but more in a way that maybe like in endless space 2 you have different types of population. Maybe citizens give small bonuses depending on their culture type, like maybe egyptians get +1 food when next to a river or something. If something like this would be the case I'd also like to see some form of immigration in the game though that may be hard to pull of correctly. Also the building of special native districts sounds like an interesting idea if you put a minimum number of pops from that culture group as a prerequisite to construct it.

It'd be fun if I could be a Warrior Race that eats other Warrior Races striving to become the strongest Warrior Race... maybe with help from peaceful Civs I buddy up with cause they treat me well, chill, & civil, & I appreciate that from them.
