Suggestion on unit display

I believe an elegant and compromising implementation to unit display would be having two modes:

Mode 1: Giant single unit displaying the number of units within, for greater readability and strategizing.

Mode 2: Small scale multiple units representation that fit other small scale features of the map, for immersion and sense of battle scale from a aerial point of view.

What do you do in cases where multiple kinds of units are in the same space?

I do not think they shown the current alpha implementatin of that yet, did they?

For mode 1, clicking on the unit number display could cycle thrhough the units in the stack displaying them.

For mode 2, a mix of the various units could be displayed at the same tile at once.

I remember seeing a screenshot of a roman legion on formation. I think it would be a little trick to organize multiple diferent units in a nice way on the same tile, but would be great if they could pull this out.

I don't really see units fitting the scale of map, scale of everything is all over the place in games like these and it works all right, in my opinion. Oriental Empires has the soldiers closer to the size they should be and all the detail is lost on anything but a close-up that serves little purpose but eye candy.

I don't know, maybe it's just the years of civ that taught me a cow as big as a house and a man as tall as two of said cows is fine.

I was under the impression that it worked like Endless Legend, where most movement allows for unit stacking until battle starts, then they split up for the battle. Most of the screenshots we've been seeing have been in the latter category.

That is correct, yes, though the battle scenes we have shown so far were shot to show off the terrain more than the battles (so we have no UI in them, for example.)
