Depending on how resources and trade are Implemented, maybe you can make it so if you produce a significant amount of a specific resource like "steal" maybe other civs will be encouraged to come to you for said specific resource it could make it so that civ would become dependent on you (or other civs) for these resources leading to more strategic options


Like If a civ is depending on another civ for steal. maybe if that civ (the one supplying the steal) got concerned it would weaken the dependent civ and cause them to look elsewhere. Or there can be a CO dependence civ pair, like the supplying civ could be dependent on that trade deal for their primary source of income It could add some complexity and new options to the trading system and the overall economy. depending on how multiple civ interact with each other and how the global economy Impacts those civs.

I could maybe see that. Kind of like in Offworld Trading company (it might be terrafroming mars I forget which) . In that game resources are rolled randomly and the devs specificlaly didn't code in making the RNG even. so that way 1 faction can have a monopoly on the item. While that faction has that advantage though such as steel they would lack other stuff like science or influence.
