I have not yet played the game in any form, but having recently played Civ 6 I'd like to request one feature: Please add in a music player/selector. If anything just a "skip track" button.
The different cultures having different music playing when you play/meet them is cool until it starts to grate in Civ. Theres always the option to mute the music, but when you like most if not all sans one/two cultures music then it just seems like a relatively simply design idea that is overlooked.

I've never ran into an issue like this in any of the previous Amplitude games, however this was such an annoyance for me in Civ6 that I figured I'd shout into the wind to try and stop this minor annoyance from also making it into this title.

Thanks!

A good idea with a music player, especially since there are a lot of cool soundtracks in the Amplitude games. Before that, I only saw the implementation of this idea in "Heart of iron 4".

Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis both have this, and its actually fantastic. I approve. they need this in game.

I think this goes agains't what Amplitude wanted to do with sound and music. I think it will be akin to Endless Legend and Endless Space, where there are several themes, depending om what you see on the screen, but they are rarely repeated. And Humankind will have even more variety. If you had no trouble with previous Amplitude titles, I don't think you will have trouble with this one.

The problem I see happening is in the Endless Space franchise is space-y chill music. Endless Legend was a fantasy game so they could do whatever. In Humankind they are using real cultures and their history, I cannot imagine showcasing the 'best' of a culture with none of their culturally significant music in some form. Chanting/shouting music genuinly gives me a headache, as do some specific instuments in some of the music in Civ 6. It seems more of a quality of life feature, and I'm sure it could be implemented in some way that is acceptable to the devs without breaking their vision for the game. Ambient music playing in the background is a big part of any game, and a 4x especially.

Well if they do not implement it, I can see someone modding it in. Id be okay with just a mod, but I would love the ability to HAVE it in game. You can just leave it alone and let it play what it thinks you wanna hear based on the cultures you picked, but like others have said. It will likely HAVE to be a hodpodge of culturally significant pieces.

Imagine, I start off with Babylonians, (What EVEN was their music like? We have no real idea. Some but not a definitive) I then way later pick a chinese culture, then a modern european one. Will I hear a shift in music or will I have all three cycling through? The way the game is supposed to be about player choices, rather than historical accuracies, I think it would behoove them to include something akin to a music player.

IF not, then I can invision just a bunch of classical european influenced music being played regardless of player choices. Most of the time in Endless Legends(and/or Space) I generally turn off the music and play my own anyways. There isnt really many games that I find myself wanting to listen to its music. But when it comes to Europa Universalis, I can skip songs I dont like, and that keeps me from turning the music off entirely! Plus, the game allowing people to input their own playlists (Theres entire workshop mods on steam for Hearts of Iron dedicated to different themes of music)

Thank you, I believe this puts into words most of my thinking as well!

Yeah, great idea. In CIV 6 i love ancient soundtracks, but atomic ones with so many instruments at once after few times of the same song - it's sooo annoying (and still no moded). I heard that a similar idea is going to be used in Humankind (more ahead = more instruments, orcherstra etc). So: more variety + option like this would be nice. Orchestra in 4X game is too intrusive. What gives me a hope: music in Endless Legend is brilliant (and calm!).

(I want "exclude some civ" option or mod in CIV 6 just because of same music again and again [like Kupe Soundtrack in Medival Era x999!])

IMO the music in open Dev was not too intrusive so far. Ofc this has much to do with taste. There's also always the option to tune down the ingame music and play your own. :)

Agreed.  The music in the Open Dev seemed to enhance the experience in a very backgroud subconscious way.

With that said, I do agree with the original idea that a hotkey or a very small skip song button would be awesome to have.

@xuv That is acctually a very good idea. I found the music in OpenDev to be fabolous myself, but taste may vary and the more personal choices the better. Just because I like a music track does not mean everyne else does. I think a skip track feature is something alot of games should have. *thumbs up*
