I never played to a true "history simulator". I mean, a game where I have to choose the right actions to make real histroy happen. If I choose the wrong option, I can follow two paths: replay or simply follow the "what if" scenario.

Humankind isn't going to be a true history simulator to that accuracy. There will, for example, only be 8-10 players per map. Obviously the real world had a lot more than 8-10 players. Even in games like Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis which are comparatively historically accurate, small changes early on spread into huge changes to the point where history is no longer even applicable. For example, you can't have a Spanish Inquisition if there is no Spain.

I see your point. The game has to be fun, not an interactive history book. There are too many variables at stake.

What I "envisioned" (yes, I'm a Napoleon fan!) was something like an upcoming wargame: you are a commander, you have to make decisions. The rest will be a nice wargame, I hoope.

So I tought: "Why not? What about taking some historical events, script them and let you decide? If you fail, you will have a "tutor" telling you suggestions".

Spanish inquisition should be a non-problem at this point: it triggers only if you play the right country and even then, you will have various options.

I like the idea of having some historical events being playable as scenarios or something similar. Would be fun to try to live through some historical events

They have announced that they hope to make a map editor, but have made no promises about the specifics. OpenDev is going to consist of three scenarios which have specific rules separate from normal play. I am hoping that this means that they will release a map editor and that it will have the capability to make custom scenarios covering specific geographic regions in specific times with more than a standard game.

Also there is a choice system in the game, although they've been a bit vauge about the specifics. For example if you build too many farms near a river you can get a flood event. You will be given the choice to spend a lot of money attempting to control the flood, some money, or leave your fate to chance. Further down the line your choices can have consquences which can in turn lead to other events with other choices. However this system is text based and your response is limited to multiple choice, so the possibilities of what you can encounter in them is limited.

I'm happy they already implemented a choice system. I'm sure I will play it soon.
