So... With the latest devpost we saw more details regarding religion. Which is freacking bawler.
However, I am a bit dissapointed we wasn't told how we would aquire religions.
Would we get a baseline few religions (like, christianity pops up and we then get to adapt and change it as good as we can)
or do we create our own from the base up?

I would LOVE to hear some of their thoughts regarding how deep it would go. I don't need to see it in action, that isn't what I am after.
I would just want to hear their concept. Like... Can we select type of religions? Idealism? Actual dieties? One god or multiple?
If gods exist inside this religion, can we name them?
(I want to clarify that (unless I have missed something) would these gods not actually exist or anything... just the beliefs would be different)

Could we INTENTIONALLY make darker religions? More focused on war, or even go so far as dark "old god" like cults?
It don't need to have a huge impact persay. (like the difference between one diety and multiple would be minimal, maybe allowing you to construct multiple shrines / temples for different effects) but if we can just choose it for the sake of taste or smaller buffs, would that be amazing.

So what would we actually get here?
(And what would people want?)

In the feature focus the dev says : "religion evolves over the course of the game, it's volatile at first with one religion for every civilization. Religion slowly consolidate into a few large blocks" to me it imply than every civilization will have to build their OWN religion. As show you are able to add new tenets to your religion after some time, my guess is that religions with similar tenets end-up giving birth to a common block.

I have not seen any info on that so can't help you

In the feature focus it's said that you can adopt civic that encourage your population to go to war against other religion, not exactly what you're talking about I'm guessing but there's that :P

I don't know what we get but as for what I want I'd say it seems kinda similar to you. It's an alternate reality game so I don't want to be forced to have a monotheist peaceful religion in modern day. I want to be able to have a polytheist human-sacrifying religion if I so wish to !

Based on the feature focus video: it seems like everyone will get a choice between shamanism and polytheism early on (which then becomes (culture name) polytheism/shamanism). Gradually religions coalesce into larger blocks (probably as areas get converted to other religions and the factions decide to convert with it) and a number of historical religions start to appear which the player can adopt. But how specifically that works seems a bit vague still.

If I can't make my own religion where we sacrifice a chicken every blue moon wil I be so dissapointed
(and I am only half joking)
