Has any information released about a transition mecanic between the ages?

Just one Click to transit from Rome (Classical Age) to Khmer (Middle Age) seems rather underwhelming from a gamepoint perspective. There has to be more.

I hope you guys come up with something interesting regarding the transition between Ages and Cultures. Uprsings, Civil Wars, Invations, etc.

I don't think there's more to it than that.

But think about it: is it more important to you to have an era's title change or have a journey of discovering new technologies over time?

Because the latter is what made the eras transcend into the next one during history.

Well, it's a game, so I don't really mind about how work the transition for the moment. For me, this abstraction is necessary, because we will go from a culture to a radically different one sometimes.

"What if, Aztecs became a sort of Edo society with Samurai" (Hissho vibe).

But I must admit, than I like your ideas. If later, the game is extended, working on transitions, with events for exemple (?), seems an interesting idea.

I'm sure there will be a little more pizzazz than there is currently in the finished game: given this is kind of the main 'feature' of the whole game it needs a little more than a button press and some buildings changing skins.

However, I even imagine a unique video showing each culture turning into each other one would be a bit too expensive, and whilst your ideas sound really fun, I think they're probably outside the scope of the game at launch. Fingers crossed they do get added!

This feels like its trying to put the cart before the horse. The abstraction at hand as is is that the all your activity and events upt that point add up to the cultural transition that occurs. It ends up a gamey click action but its better that way for giving the player a sense of agency rather than shoehorning feel bad mechanics like instant civil wars into it.

From my expeirence with Open Dev I think my previous actions and direction and circumanstance helped shape my culture choices into the Classical era and in turn I found myself eyeing particular Medieval Cultures based on my situation (sad I can't continue that Aksum->England run till April, alas, thats going to be fun) and I think that's a good way to approach it.

I just played the stadia opendev beta (available between 21/10/20 and 28/10/20) and I really like the fame and culture transition ideas. I just wanted to share one thought.

It would make more sense to me that if you want to transition from let's say a science focused culture to a military focused culture that you have to obtain some fame or era star(s) related to military. It would also make sense to me that if you, in a certain era are playing let's say a science focused culture that you have to obtain some fame or era star(s) related to science before you can transition.

What if the reason you are selecting a culture is because you're really behind in that category and want to fix it? It wouldn't make sense to require you to get a star before that then.

I just find it a bit strange that your culture can transition to a military focused culture when you have very little military experience. I'm talking about a feeling of earning your particular transition. It's just a thought. It might indeed make shifting plans with the culture transition slower, which will probably also be part of the fun.

Just imagine that there's a coup or something where a really powerful leader caused sweeping changes. No one knew who Macedon was until Alexander the Great came along and started a major conquest spree.
