No warning when a full army is blocking a spawn point

I just clicked on a city that I was wondering why it wasn't producing and saw an infinity symbol next to how many turns left on the unit it was making.  Turns out the spawn point was occupied by a full army.  No warning, nothing, just a stuck city for several turns.  This needs some sort of presentation to the player.

Pretty self-explanatory my guy. Don't think too hard.

The problem is when there is a lot going on, alert the user when there is a problem.  Pretty basic game design principle my guy. That IS in fact the forum we're in. :)

Agree with the OP here. Had this happen a few times. I get multiple notifications every turn for when people on the other side of the world discover a forest or a lake or something, but no one wants to tell me my production isn't producing any more.

If you're not gonna be helpful, why are you here? Just another fluffer?

I thought my comment was helpful. As it is pretty self explanatory?

"Oh, why am I not producing units.. Can't possibly be because my unit stack is full and on top of the city.. NAH... MUST BE A BUG!"

^ troll language. Nice try tho.

We're in the Game Design forum.  No one said anything about a "bug" but you.  There are all sorts of notifications in the game - by your logic we should just remove them all because they're  "self-explanatory" lol.  In the game design forum we talk about helpful things that could be added to the game to assist in the player experiencing the game better - noticing things in a complex game environment that they might take a few turns to notice.  Being unhelpful is when someone says "hey you know what would be awesome, adding this cool feature" and some tool comes in and says "not needed, ur dumb". So yeah, troll language, but you knew that, and defending yourself here is just more troll language lol.

This is a needed feature - a city with blocked production needs to be called out specificially.  Note in another thread I posted that the city list doesn't have a lot of use at present - this would be a perfect thing to add there.

The map notifications are already pretty spammy anyway, so I can't see an issue with adding a notification for units in the spawn points blocking production to them. When I have more than five cities and am busy with a war, I tend to just queue a bunch of stuff and don't even check on the cities regularly (especially that I may want to blitz through a turn to keep the tense battle going, forgetting that I have an empire to run). Not gonna say that it happens regularly, but I got my city production locked two or three times that way and it would be lovely to have a warning for it.

+1

Very easy to miss when you own a lot of cities, and extremely frustrating to only notice dozens of turns later and realize your city has been throwing industry into the void the whole time.

There are many notifications that may or may not be of interest to the player and therefore sometimes create spam, but this clearly does not fall in that category - we would always want to know if this is happening. I would suggest it should be similar to an empty production queue or idle army - the player should be forced to correct it before ending the turn.

I ran into this again while playing the Together We Rule DLC, but it seems to have got even worse - this time, the production progress did not show an infinite wait time, but rather a finite one, yet the progress stayed at zero turn after turn. That makes it even easier to miss.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread.  I had something similar happen last night where I was building a Forge but then lost access to my only source of copper, and my city quietly stopped doing anything.  I think I'll make a new thread about this sort of problem.
