Suggestions for further improvement

George Sand was really lovely update and finally make Humankind very close to be real candy. Here I want to point out some frustrating things from my game experience and then suggest many different suggestions for further updates.

The frustrating things during George sand are:

1. There are too little animals in the beginning. I played around 5 games and didn’t reached hunting star. I have never seen deers or bears during those games. Only mammoths.
2. I can’t hire most IPs armies. Only 2 units while it have 8 more units standing near their city. It is very frustrating thing, I hope one day we could be able to hire all their armies

3. Very little strategic resources on big maps. Like 1 saltpetre extractor on whole continent. Same for aluminium or uranium


So speaking about further improvements, here some list of things that could balance weak things in the game:


1. The palisades buff. Now palisades only buff the hp of walls, but from my experience no one builds siege machines in 1st era, therefore no one builds palisades. I think if palisades gave such bonuses as +1cs for levies, or additional bonus from ranged attack, or +1cs for garrisons it would make too much sense to build them. Same could be done for next era stone walls and bastions.

2. Infrastructure rework. I have written many threads about infrastructure, many of them are not valuable to build at all. Especially many of them are industry ones. Industry bonus from infrastructure per worker shall be much higher than it is now, so even on latest stages of game swapping pops shall change impact in building. Also last era industry infrastructure produce disappointingly low income. Science one are balanced the best. Some of money and food infrastructure also could be buffed. Infrastructure for influence also shall be buffed. 


3. Line bonus for line infantry. Just like with man o wars. Why not, it will be very authentic for this era, and give us difference from modern infantry.

4. Buffing tier 4 tenets. Also adding additional bonus for religious owner. This will solve problem why religion is doesn’t competitive now. Nerfing some tenets such as +2cs, or +50 science from wonder


5. Fully reworking/balancing of civics. Most of them are not that valuable or changing gameplay as you think. Many of them are nice, but mostly they are very weak. In my opinion, civics shall dramatically change your gameplay, or give tremendous bonus. There are such civics, like globalism choice, but many civics or choices there are very invaluable.


6. Reducing cost of pop cost sacrifice and buyout cost. Pop sacrifice is dead button. But it shall be used as often as buyout is used.

7. Adding button for influence buyout for all infrastructure from last era. Now you need to deattach city, make colony and merge them. Would be nice if there was option to do it in one button.

 

8. The ambusher shouldn’t be able to call reinforcements. Therefore he has cs bonus, he should be able add another of his armies into the battle 


9. And finally, formulas of districts cost and pop consumption shall be changed, as now they don’t allow to build really big cities.

 

10. Common quarter shall be counted as fims district, so you don’t lose too much bonus when placing it near fims district

Esoul, lemme invite you to try the Vanilla Improvement Project (aka VIP Modpack) mod. Many od the changes you propose are in the mod, and it may inspire you even further
