I just saw the new Avatars trailer and, needless to say, I’m excited for the game!  While watching, I had a thought.

Would it be possible for us to be able to make multiple avatars, and then be able to play against our creations?   Doing this we could have custom games, playing solely against customized avatars?

I think it would be great fun to play against 7 treacherous warmonger AIs, or alternately, 7 science focused AIs.

I feel like the optional ability to customize some, or all, of our computer opponents would be great fun, and also great for the game!

I assume they are akin to custom factions, but without factions (those are chosen in-game), so yeah, you will probably be able to create multiple and choose them for AI opponents.

Another thought I just had, for custom leaders beyond their personalities.

Imagine how much fun it would be to be able to make, and play against custom leaders.  A game where the opponents are:  Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Zhuge Liang, Pyrrhus of Epirus, Blackbeard, and Homer Simpson, sounds like tons of fun to me!

In the most recent stream, they seemed to imply that this would not be possible, and it's only one Avatar per account unfortunately. I hope they switch this, as it would be really fun to play against Avatars you created and share them with others.

I really like your suggestion. +1

I do hope as well to be able to play a singleplayer game against AI's customized leaders avatars.

Let's be honest, an entire "smash amiibo" feature probably isn't going to be very fleshed out at launch, and probably shouldn't be with all the other stuff they need to finish. I say we push for this in like 2022.

I really do hope we'll be able to make multiple accounts/profiles, though. It will be disappointing and quite annoying, to say the least, if it really is one leader per copy of the game. One per profile at least makes some sense because there are supposedly things for your avatar you unlock in-game.

I’m not asking for a set of figures to go with them. (although I would be ok with it, if they went that direction.)

What I’m asking for is, the ability to use features already present within the game, with less restrictions.

Bottom line, what I’m asking for is:

The ability to create, and keep a roster of multiple avatars, instead of just one, and then be able to play against them ourselves, like our friends already will be able to, through online sharing.

Wish we could up-vote comments; I love your idea of multiple profiles in Humankind!

It would be really nice to have one consistent avatar to play with my friends in multi, while having a separate profile for single player I can change the look of constantly.

Not to mention how nice it would be for families who share a computer, that way Salem and Sabrina can have two distinct characters, instead of having to fight over the look of their only avatar.

Yes, I think that this should totally be an option.

Similar how in games like Age of Wonders or Stellaris you can create multiple heroes/factions. Each one unique and customized.

And then you could play a large single player game made up of all the heroes/factions that you created.

Humankind should do the same. Let us have multiple avatars. Then we could use them to populate single player games.

If Players were to have one Avatar per account, then at least we should be able to create multiple AI-avatars, so that we can create some powerful AI to challenge us.

Alternatively, multiple Avatars could be created, but only one Avatar can be set as the prime Avatar, which represent my steam account. So friends could play Humankind with my prime Avatar, but not other Avatars I have created for single player AI factions.

The avatar system is horrible.  One is all you get, and you can't play as anyone but your one avatar.  This is just a silly design choice.  Why should I not be able to create any number of AI personas that I want and be able to play against them, or choose any avatar I like when I start a game.  There is a purely arbitrary design decision that limits the player for no reason.  I hope this changes as soon as possible.

I can't believe the only way to populate my game is to go download other people's Avatars that must be named after their G2G profile instead of like... making custom AIs for historical figures as I see them.

I also can't believe the system made it out of beta like this. Did nobody raise the point? Isn't that the whole.. Games2Gether... thing?

YES. I've played tons of games like this and am frankly shocked they don't allow for multiple like most other games do. They add so many customizations and no way to test things out unless you alter your default avatar.

Yeah they have a really neat character creation system that you basically only use once and never touch again.

I scoured through the random profiles to find interesting-looking ones to add the the game, but like... then they have their gtg profile names on them. Is there even a way to change your own profile name for others?

The intention was to pit players' Personas against each other, controlled by either real human or AI. That's why you finetune only your own Persona.

I like that concept, personally, but they really should allow to add Personas from within game, without requiring us to go to G2G. That aspect feels half-baked.

I'm sorry to revive an old thread like this, but I was struggling to find more recent topics on this, and I'd still love to be able to do what's requested here. It's one of my favorite things to do in Stellaris. I'm also currently afraid to experiment and play around with the customization tool, because I'm concerned that I'd forget how to make an older design, if I don't like my new design.

I'm in full agreement, I have a frustrating time searching for the exact avatars I want for my games and I end up with fartduck_xd420 as the only one sometimes. The ability to tune the avatars I want in the game, with the biases I want, would be much appreciated. Also if I could just put my OWN avatar in my games sure whatever that's good enough.

I'm surprised I haven't commented in this thread before, but yes please. I've been waiting for this functionality since release, thinking it would be something the developers would naturally want to include from the beginning to ensure players make the most of the persona creator, yet here we are over a year and a half later with no word on whether this will ever be implemented.

I'm hoping that Amplitude's recent announcement of revamped leader names means they are taking the matter of immersion more seriously in the next update, and perhaps the ability to create our own custom AI personas to populate our games might not be too far away, but we shall see.
