Hi everyone!

At the beggining I want to apologise for my english!

I'm thinking about buying Huminkind but first I want to ask about eras. Is there an options to select how many eras will be available in the game? I don't really wanna play from stone age to modern times. I would like to block maximum era that players can reach in single game.

I think there isn't a limiter (I might be wrong) but it sound possible that someone may add a mod for it later on, this was the case with Civ

Thanks for the info! Probably I'll wait for now and see if we gonna have mods for that like in CIVs :)

Era Range, Start Point, or End Point

I'd love to see this feature.  In Civilization, you can decide in which Era you want the game to start.  Why not offer the same in Humankind?

Maybe I'm only interested in a competition that spans the Neolithic through the Classical Eras.

Or maybe I love modern tech and want to see some modern warfare.  So maybe I want the game to start from the Early Modern or Industrial era.

I also would like such a feature! Civ games allows to choose starting era, but not the final era. Is it really that hard to implement such a setting in 4x turn based games?

The only problem is this would mean you would have to have a city already built on a random territory. The neolithic era is what gives you your early exploration and influence to start. It would have to definitely be balanced around and isn't something I see them just plopping out. They already have balance issues, wouldn't want them to have to focus on later starts. Though I would like a era locker. Asi really only want the game to go to era IV lol maybe I just want a whole ancient era game and the era stops at era I. I think having a cut off era would be nice at least.

+1 to this comment.

I would like to play some games where we never leave the classical era.

Other games I would like to play where we start in the industrial etc.

You can mod around this a bit already, but yeah - otherwise games do really take up far too much time (As a working adult).

I can see allowing game being cut off at certain Era in HK, that definitely should be doable, but starting at certain Era? That's a bit more difficult. Aside of exploration phase of Neolithic, how do you decide who gets which culture? Is it chosen at random? Do you choose blindly and cross your fingers you've chosen right? Any of the ideas to resolve this I could see as wonky but interesting quirk from a mod, but I don't really see an elegant solution that wouldn't stick out as a sore thumb if marketed as genuine mechanic for a game.

One fix for this may be to use city settlement rules that appear in Medieval and beyond:    In a game where you can start at a higher era, the game could give you a Settler unit and the appropriate Colony Model+ technology researched, and then provide full vision on your starting and surrounding territories.   Then you could plop down an era-appropriate city in the first few turns.

If this sort of game-start model were added, Amplitude could even create pre-Medieval settlers and Ancient/Classical Colonly-models for start-game only, perhaps?

That actually would be a good idea. The only thing would be pre era cultures as you wouldn't be getting those bonuses. Maybe just rakipping them might be fine.

Bump this thread, this needs to be a base game feature, I want to play up to the industrial era and not past that.
