I started a war with about 72 War Support because of some grievances.

I destroyed one of their outpost, won 2 battles and took a city.

Time passes, their War Support goes to 0, mine at 2 because bullshit balancing(?).

I win the war, but the only thing I can get is a 600 gold pay from them because I don't have enough War Support currency to "buy" the city I took from them ???????

Game forces me to choose the Surrender terms but this is just complete bullshit, and I close the game and get a refund.

What is the FUCKING POINT of taking someone's city but  you can't keep it because of a stupid useless war support meter? Is the only way of winning a war destroying you enemy completely so they can't even ask for Surrender terms?

I'm not buying this game any soon again, but I will keep watching to see if War Support mechanic gets removed or an option to disable it.

Now, if you excuse me, I'm going back to Civ5, ES2 or EL.

I really dislike the way it is set up at present. I took  a city from ai by a war because he had taken it from a free minor faction. His empire was over the other side of the map so I didn't want to have a major war with him so just occupied his city. I don't know enough about mechanics at present but eventually I "lost" the war because of low war score even though I had bigger military, more influence and cities and was vastly superior to my opponent. I was forced to surrender and give up the city I had taken by force and (this was a deal breaker) and a couple of my own cities!!!!!!!I had no say in the outcome at all.

That happened to me when I played Victor OpenDev, I took one city and 3 outposts from the yellow guys but my war support was declining and then BOOM! The game forces me to give all taken outposts, the city and some of my own outposts. I really hoped they would fix that when at the release but here we are complaining about it.

War support is a new gameplay in 4x and I like that, but for the moment we don't have enough explain of that do diplomatic choice in popup game.

I don't have try each diplomatic gameplay, and maybe some politic choice i have done can explain my next purpuse...

In my game, in war I never be able to grow enough the war support to vassal one IA. Even all IA city have been defeated.

In same way, I think in diplomatic choice we can be able to threaten or claim a territory.

But maybe I have not seen how to do yet.

You need to go to war with grievances. The more you have, the more war support you get. And you will be guaranteed to get your grievances - whatever cities they are. So you need to plan your wars better. I'm currently going to war vs the English in Medieval. I have 8 grievances, he has 7. My war support is full and his is about to die because I'm holding his cities. Having more grievances is also good for war support.

Pro-tip: Ransack everything.

Destroy all enemy outposts, destroy all enemy cities. Replace them with your own. Built instantly if you place outpost/city on the ruins of theirs, so you don't have to wait. You will keep the improvements already built. Enemy war support will rise because of your acts of ethnic cleansing.  Do not rush. You can wipe out an enemy civ in a single war if you take it slow and steady. Forcing surrender when they have one city left, then burning that city down - pretty wild

That's pretty much how I've been doing all wars and it works out pretty well.

That part I got well, grievances are very important to justify an war and not make the empires around you think you're a warmonger. That worked fine in Civ5 and Civ6, not the best way but it wasn't a nuisance when playing these 2 games.

The only problem I see here in Humankind is being FORCED into an unacceptable deal. Being forced into accepting a deal only would be ok in two situations:

1) Your empire is being decimated by the attacker and they're forcing you to end the war, but, of course, keeping what they took regardless of stupid War Support numbers.

2) Being completely under another empire's influence, just like in ES2, so that they can demand you something.

I would try that if I hadn't refunded the game already but I just wanted one city and some outposts, which is almost impossible due to War Support.

From what I understood, you can only wager war if you're going to completely destroy your enemy, otherwise, War Support is going to fuck up the game.

Could always just ransack the territories you want, rebuild outposts/cities on them, then force surrender. Agree its not ideal, but it guarantees you get what you want.

With this + pollution, I would join you on the refund if I hadn't already passed the 2 hour playtime mark.
