Descendant of Kings event and thoughts on assimilation mechanic

Maybe I've been unlucky but I've run a few games now and assimilated a few peoples. The only event I have ever gotten after the assimilation is Descendant of Kings (below).

Now, I assimilated Huaricanga peacefully. I didn't attack even one of their troops. I'd like to see an event that is more friendly, to reflect that I was peaceful.

On the subject of assimilation, I do feel it is a little simple. It's just a case of throwing money and infuence at the culture and before long you can assimilate. They may be a peaceful culture but why would they just accede to your wishes? This is especially so if the game says they distrust you, as most independents have done in my games.

These are the Elamites, whom I am working towards assimilating.

Our beliefs don't seem all that far from each other really, and yet we are only at 27%. I'm wondering what it takes to get 100% and whether that is realistically going to happen.

I am highest on the patronage and am told we're friendly, yet they still distrust me. If they distrust me why should they accede to assimilation.

How about adding in a mechanic by which you can alter an independent's beliefs to more reflect your own or insist that you be trusted before they will assimilate?

I really like that independents are in the game. I like how they claim land and become a factor you must get around. It just feels very simple to get around them right now. If they're aggressive you just conquer (and then they have one territory that will never be too tough). How about very aggressive independents that get a massive bonus to troop building? Think Boudicca sacking London or the Goths sacking Rome. They should probably exhaust themselves fast but making it so that independents can really threaten a city would be interesting.

How about peaceful independents that can switch to being aggressive if they don't like you trying to assimilate them?

Just a few thoughts. I'd love people's thoughts on this.

I agree with your thoughts.

There should be more events. I think they said there are 150 events, which sounds like a lot, but the more the merrier. Especially since some of them seem to be automatic so you see them every game. Plus many events seem to be just one off - for example the cats vs ferrets - there doesn't seem to be any follow up events so it's really just a single point change to your leaning and you can forget about it.

I'm still not clear on the proximity/assimilation mechanics so I'd also like to hear other's thoughts on it.

Yes more events, and why no dogs?
I mean ferrets are cool and all, but seriously, dogs!
If you pick dogs you should get instant stability +40 in all your cities, just because dogs are great like that.

Aside from that,
I'm bothered that there is always one civ that has higher standing than me, mostly the pink one yes.
Completely different continent, not even researched boats yet, but already trying to be the patron of that independent village. Not cool.

It's a bug with an AI trait, which hopefully will be fixed in the next beta.

I'm all for ferrets but seem to end up going cats for preferences at the time.

I'm hoping Amplitude continue to add events outside of expansions. It seems like there's an ongoing testing process for patches.
