I want to start off by saying that I love Amplitude Studio's Humankind. I think that the game, and the ideas that are here, are truly something special. Not only is the game built around mechanics that feel fresh and special among other games of its genre, but the aesthetic of the game is just beautiful.

But I think it could be even more beautiful.

There are only 14 Natural Wonders currently in the game. Some, like the Great Barrier Reef and Mount Everest, are absolutely must-haves. Others, like the Danakil Desert and Ha Long Bay, are much more obscure, but still merit inclusion, however one must wonder why these, when there are other natural places that, to some, might be more noteworthy.

This is an illustrated list of 102 more, done in my attempt of replicating the style of the game.

Please note that I am not demanding Amplitude drop everything and add all of these places. I've simply compiled a list of candidates that I think are worthy of being considered for addition by Amplitude or by the modding community once the tools are released. Please hit me with whatever suggestions and feedback you might have!

This list starts with the wonders already in the game for comparison purposes. If you want to jump straight to the candidates, it begins on page 5.

Thank you for reading and for any feedback you might leave.

Edit: I am continuing to add additional wonders. Somehow I forgot about the Grand Canyon of all things, possibly out of an inability to believe they weren't already in the game.

Wow! Very impressive work! I was going to do a top 5, then I kept seeing so many good suggestions: Hang Sơn Đoòng, Everglades or Atchafalaya Basin (gotta represent some wetlands!), Galapagos Islands (obligatory!), Valley of Geysers, Wadi Qaraqir, Sundarbans, Zuma Rock...

How about Okavango Delta (Botswana), and Virginia Falls (NWT, Canada).

I would also really like for Natural Wonders to have some interesting and unique bonuses!

Amusingly, I just discovered the Okavango Delta independently. Brilliant and beautiful, and I've already added it. Good, too; Africa was lacking and can't have that. I'm looking into Virginia Falls now per your suggestion, though I have to admit they'd have to really be something to stand up to the ones already on this list!

Thank you for your feedback and your praise.

A few more I could recommend: The Pink and White terraces (NZ)
Deadvlei (Namibia)
Natural Tunnel (USA)

Already upvoted your post, the list is great. I've been thinking about Turkey, you already mention Pamukkale - which is indeed a really cool suggestion.

I also had in mind Cappadocia, with its peculiar particular and amazing landscape.

This could be a good addition as well, as any other "hoodoo"/"fairy chimney" location in the world (some of which you already mentioned in your list I think) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoodoo_%28geology%29?wprov=sfla1

Unfortunately, the Pink and White Terraces were destroyed by volcanic activity before the advent of modern photography, so I couldn't find any actual pictures of them, just paintings, and so nothing I could trust to not, shall we say, exaggerate.

Great choice! We've got Danakil Desert represented by some of its more remarkable features, why not do the same with the Namib? Thank you!

Natural Tunnel is pretty cool, but does it really compare to these other wonders?

I actually looked into Cappadocia a while back, but it's a pretty human-altered landscape. I'll have to see if I can get some good natural views of it. Thank you for teaching me the term "Hoodoo" by the way.

Oh, what an wonderful work here, I'm really happy to see the Sugarloaf Mountain and the Meeting of the Waters often forgotten in this type of lists! Well just joining the party here some extra suggestions, little biased in my part for being Brazilian, but hey they are still gorgeous options:

Anavilhanas Isles;

Pico da Neblina;

Chimborazo Mountain;

Serra dos Órgãos/God's Finger;

Etosha Pan;

Tundavala Gap;

Kalandula Falls;

And these other ones are a little more "broad" than one singular thing:

Chapada Diamantina;

Jalapão;

Araucaria Moist Forests;

Paraty Bay and Ilha Grande;

Pantanal;

Namib Desert;

I've also discovered this "Hoodoo" term actually, while searching for the english version of "Cheminées de fées" (Fairy Chimneys).

You're right, the natural landscape has been altered by human settlements, but there are still some part of it remaining untouched. You've probably already came across those pictures, but one of the most iconic view is this one :

Hey, thank you all for your interest and suggestions! Let me take a moment to respond to each of you.

I'm glad you were happy to see Sugarloaf Mountain and the Meeting of the Waters. Thank you for your suggestions! I want to address each of these suggestions in turn.

Rac98 wrote:

Anavilhanas Isles;

Whoa! These are fascinating! What a unique, beautiful, and lush wetland! I'm definitely going to be adding this to my list. Thank you!

Rac98 wrote:

Pico da Neblina;

Chimborazo Mountain;

Pico da Neblina is certainly striking in appearance, I must say. Chimborazo's only claim to fame seems to be that it's the furthest point from Earth's center, which is neat, but that seems to be its whole thing? Do either of these mountains have particular spiritual or mythological significance? Otherwise I could see possibly Pico's inclusion (though I have a lot of mountains already) but not Chimborazo's unless there's a factor I'm not aware of.

Rac98 wrote:

Serra dos Órgãos/God's Finger;

Very striking! But also part of the same mountain range as Sugarloaf, which is already included and also very close by.

Rac98 wrote:

Etosha Pan;

Definitely adding this now that I know about it. Thank you. It's basically an African Salar de Uyuni but green instead of red and also a living wetland? That's crazy! How did I not know about this before?

Rac98 wrote:

Tundavala Gap;

Certainly scenic, but is it truly a wonder? I'm not sure.

Rac98 wrote:

Kalandula Falls;

Beautiful. But does it really belong on the same list as Angel, Iguazu, Niagara, or Victoria?

Rac98 wrote:

Chapada Diamantina;

This place definitely merits further investigation. I see multiple things that are beautiful, striking, and could even be somewhat wondrous, but I'd need specific things to look into, I think.

Rac98 wrote:

Jalapão;

What... IS Jalapão, exactly? Cursory research is inconclusive.

Rac98 wrote:

Araucaria Moist Forests;

Certainly beautiful, but I think this would be better modeled as one of those forests you get some Fame for discovering rather than a wonder. Same reason I didn't add Germany's famously beautiful Black Forest and probably shouldn't have added the Monarch Colonies in Mexico.

Rac98 wrote:

Paraty Bay and Ilha Grande;

Beautiful, certainly, but the kind of beauty found in any tropical island. I don't see anything particularly special here, though I would love to be proven wrong. Anything you can tell me about this place?

Rac98 wrote:

Pantanal;

Oh, the Pantanal. Beautiful, and wondrous without a doubt. But I feel, it's just too big to be a land-based Wonder. I wonder though, if you could tell me what the best part of this gorgeous, gigantic wetlands is, what's the wonder within the wonder that I could add?

Rac98 wrote:

Namib Desert;

I've added the Namib to the most recent upload. Thank you for the suggestion! The Deadvlei in particular is quite the sight, black trees, white clay, red dunes, blue sky. Would make for an excellent page in a coloring book!

Thank you again for all your suggestions, Rac98!

Well well! My last reservations about Cappadocia have been swept away. Thank you! I will be updating the document to add this place. I'm amazed you were able to find a photo without balloons and houses everywhere!
